Hi all
can anybody confirm if the HVAC unit in the AU's is a sealed unit? I am looking at an AUII Pursuit ute which has a rattle in the A/C fan, initially I thought it was just a leaf or something like they all get from time to time but I have been told it is actually something in this unit that needs to be replaced. I am not too clued up on these parts so I'm wondering if anybody knows - I am being told it i a dash out job to fix and will be around $1k with labour. Any ideas?

it's not called the hvac unit
the thing you're talking about is just the blower. yes it is a dashout job, i think i had mine replaced for ~$250 for one from the wreckers and labour (iirc fan speeds one or one and two refused to work)

can't remember now
i was working for a very high rate of $$ at the time and getting married the next week or something and i don't even remember who did it, i was a busy boy normally i would have done it myself, i certainly did a couple in the cabs back in the day if you drop the glovebox you can see it in plain view, the only bugger is is there's a pair of screws or bolts (can't remember) that you can't attack unless you move the dash out a bit it's just time consuming and annoying, not really all that tricky

Dash out mate. If competant, (remembering the mentality of vehicle assemblers) will only take about 30 mins, just follow the workshop manual, gregories of equivilant. However the actual vent unit itself will require the A/c to be degassed and coolant hoses to be removed etc and will get expensive if u don't have the correct equipment. Stupid design compared to BA.
