Talking I think this is a record!

So guys
In one week
My car has managed to
a) have the gearbox jam up in a parking lot which required a tow, and to be pulled out and fixed (Fixed)
b) The exhuast system falling clean off and meeting my rear tyres (Fixed)
c) The bonnet flying up and wrecking the mounts, cracking paint ect (Getting fixed tommorow)
d) And last night, after i thought well hey thats everything that could go wrong?
The radiator bolt loosened up just enough to let the bottom end get sucked into the Fan. Bye bye alluminium radiator. now i need to source a radiator super quick.

All in less then a week to a 18 year old who has a part time job and no money for anything

Can anyone beat that!?

87 you would have just missed the fun. The XJ40 is considered the best XJ to many. Actually from what I have heard the series III (79 onwards) were pretty good as well. Before that dont expect the electrics to work. Lovely car though and I will probably buy one again (MKII)

As they say:

Lucas: inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three-position Lucas switch: DIM, FLICKER and OFF.
The other three switch setting: SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE.

Ah to be young again.

Bad luck dude but sounds to me like you need to check that stuff you work on is fitted properly tightened and working.

But I was the same at 17 fixed my car until it broke. It's all a learning game.

Man thats a bit of bad luck. But push through it and you'll like ya car even more. You'll probs have to get ya mum or dad to go guarantor, because your only 18 and don't have a full-time job. If you can't get it you might have to take it off the road for a while, but thats last resort.
Hope everything works out for ya

I got 5 flat tyres in 6 days once. All different tyres in separate incidences, one per day for 4 days, skipped a day and then got one the next morning and one that afternoon. I was only driving around town.

Oh, that sucks! It's bad enough having a flat or two but 5 in 6 days?!

Worst for me was when I went to pick up a new company car. A VY S pack. Blew the gearbox within 100 kms (trip home was 130km). Stereo dies after the gearbox was replaced and power windows all died within the space of a few days.

Oh and my first car who I sold to a mate wrote it off in that time frame too!

Sort of (Not entirely auto related)

A couple of years ago, on my Wednesday off, (which was my weekly day off from TAFE). I decided to work on my construction assignment for my course. Because I was studying a drafting course I had to use AutoCAD, I had use the computer.

After taking My brothers & sister to school, I came home & said to dad "I'm just going to work on my construction assignment." He said "You can't, energex is going to cut the power at 9 till 4 to do repairs, so we might as well go grab your Gas mixer for the Fairlane (due to it being a Ford OEM Vialle unit) while we're on the Coast to grab my old safe deposit box". I rang energex to confirm that the power was going to be cut. They said that they we're just waiting for a generator for the local servo (Which I worked for) then cut it.

So we headed down to the Gold Coast (a Hour & a half drive) picked up the Safe deposit box, then headed over to the wreckers to pick up my gas mixer.

Got to the wreckers, told them I rang the day before to see if they had it. So they went out back, & said that they didnt have my mystery gas mixer. I said "but I confirmed you had it yesterday, & that it was put aside" but they didnt have it. Dad & I spent the rest of the day going to every wreckers & a further 4 gas specialists trying to find one. No luck so we headed home.

Got home walked in the door & asked my Step mother "Did the power go off?" She said "No" - Not Happy Jan...... 8 hours of wasted time to find a Mixer that wasn't there while I could have been working on a project I had limited time to work on......

SO I headed off to my weekly poker game at the local. After a few hands I lost a few grand in chips to a full house to my three of a kind. Brought the Stack back during the night. Only to my last hand which I had a full house, beating the straight & flush the other two blokes had. The last card came down on the table to give the third bloke a straight flush, the second time he's pulled that on me (the first time was a ROYAL FLUSH).... Couldn't believe it.... Headed back home & saw there was some missed calls on my mobile.

Walked in the door to fond that my step mother is being taken to hospital for a problem with her cyatic* nerve. Stayed at the hospital all night.

Left the hospital at 5 in the morning, dad & I headed back home. Instead of going to bed, I stayed up, took the kids to school again. Came home & was JUST as I was about to drop off to sleep, dad walked into my caravan & said "The phone wont stop ringing" & I said bluntly, "Take it off the bloody hook!" from that point I just couldn't get to sleep, only to have to go to TAFE that afternoon......

48hrs of bad luck......

My friday consisted of

Pinged for turning right at the wrong time right after leaving home to pick someone up before heading to the Bseries Parkes show - $201 + 2 pts
Bogged the car on a dirt road - had to get back into town (Parkes, bogged at The Dish) Got it out about 40 mins later
Threw power steering belt on the way back into town
Spent the next 2 hours freaking out about losing my phone (only to have the guy who dragged my car out pull over as i walked down the maint street and find it in his car)

My Friday was crap. All over the place - didn't know whether to be angry or happy most of the time since i had such a fun time doing it all lol (except the fine.)
