Default Debadging AUs

Hey Guys,

Have had a look around the forums but seem to be getting mixed answers... Am wanting to debadge an XR8 Ute and a Forte Sedan (both Series 3). If I remove the badges will there be any holes behind any of the badges, or are there only holes for the Series 1 cars?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Julza

I have debadged my Futura of the badge on the boot. No holes what so ever. But be very careful when removing the badge. There is double sided tape that is strong to remove. I hear using Eucalyptus oil and some fishing line is the best method to remove the badge. other's have tried a hair dryer as another option.

WARNING: DO NOT USE A SCREW DRIVER OR ANY SHARP/BLUNT OBJECT TO REMOVE BADGES. ONE SLIP CAN DAMAGE THE PAINT.

Heat gun and fishing line is the best method if you choose to do it, otherwise wait for a hot day...

When I replaced the tailgate on my ute there were holes behind the Falcon badge, none behind the Ford oval or the XR8 lettering on the front-quarter or tailgate.

I would be inclined to leave the badges where they are as they will most likely leave a silhouette.

The above is correct.

On the ute, the 'falcon' badge has two holes behind it which you will need to cover. BA tailgates will fit as a straight swap if that makes it easier, but they too have holes up the top where the ford oval is in the middle. On the AU's the oval badge is on the RHS of the tailgate and it has 2 holes as well - so long as short of it, if you want to take all the badges off the back you're going to be left with 2 pairs of holes in the tailgate.

The side badges do not have holes behind them.

You can get around - I redid mine and used a long series III badge to cover the holes, the stuck the XR8 badge above it. Will take some pics.

As for the forte, pretty sure you're right to take the Forte badge off the bootlid.

Thanks for the replies guys, the Forte is a mate's and he just wants his Forte and Series III badges off... as for my ute will probably leave it for now. I was gonna just relocate the Ford badge to the top middle like on the B series utes, but maybe not worth the hassle for now.

Aust would be good to see some pics of your tailgate now too mate.

Cheers,
Julza

This is good for removing sticky residue on the paint:

My photos arent the best but this might help to give you an idea:

On mine, the Ford badge on the RHS sits lower than it would normally so it lines up with the badges on the LHS of the tailgate. I removed all the badges, put the Series III badge over the holes on the LHS, then cut the two tabs off the back of the Ford badge, measured it up and positioned it lower. Then I added the XR8 badges above the Series III badge and the pics show the end result. Im happy with it, if I ever get the tailgate repainted I will remove all badges and have the holes filled, but this is a cheaper option and I reckon it looks ok.
