leaving the gym today I saw a Honda Civic parked next to a Holden Cruze.
They were so similar I am amazed nobody has brought this up - Headlights very similar but the Honda ones go a bit further up the bonnet. -Tail light exactly the same but inverted clear where red is in reverse. -Same body almost except the Cruze is more flared around the rear guards |

Yes I've often wondered if Holden are paying royalties to Honduh for use of their tail light design.

Now that i think about it is so obvious. I mean seriously they both have four wheels as well, is that a coincidence or what?

Don't see it personally. It's just a fashionable shape/styling, that's all. It's like how the LC 4 door Torana and Datson 120Y 4 door share the same weird 70s styling.

And this from the Holden forum
I've seen a few in the city now and they actually dont look that bad. I still think they are way to similar to the civic from the back but i like the whole side and front profile. SV6er You are right, it looks like Civic from the back :eeew:, Mazda 3 sedan (old model) from the side :, front....ehm... not too bad. smokiebbear24-08-2009, 09:25 AM You are right, it looks like Civic from the back :eeew:, Mazda 3 sedan (old model) from the side :, front....ehm... not too bad. Have seen few of them around town aswell, its good to see they sell well http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/archive/.../t-124152.html And again Gm inside news forum Originally Posted by BBDOS CV8 Also the tail=lights - reserve judgement til I see in the flesh, but I think they are a lot cleaner-looking. Amazing how such minor changes alter it's appearance so much isszy I have always thought the tails looked like a Honda Civic tails upside down. I actually saw a Cruze and a Civic next to each other at the lights the other day, and it looks even more like they are related when they are side by side. Different, but the same. http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...48/index6.html It appears once again Google is my friend. |

So you have pin pointed a few things that look similar to another car. When looking at both cars fully you couldnt possibly say they look the same.
You could probably do the same for every modern car if you wanted to nit pick. |

Some people don't have an eye for details at all. These are the same breed that think Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores look identical.

It appear as per posts form other people on other forums that I have provided quotes from and links for them that I am not the only one who see`s it .
I think we must have some closet Holden fans as I have said nothing bad but stated the obvious and have an eye for detail as I am not the only person who can see it. I have seen them parked beside each other which I thought warranted a closer inspection, Who that has posted in this thread has seen them parked beside each other in real life can actually give a valid description. |

If they were identical then that would mean you could remove the tail lights from both cars and swap them over and they would fit perfectly. Look at the shape of both tail lights they are like chalk and cheese ffs. |

There have been many times across many manufacturers that their have been similar design cues as a result of the taste of the buying public at the time. To say two cars that have the same design cues are the same is a bit of a stretch. I guess it depends on how much you squint at the time.

I have seen them side by side and i admit that the tail lights are of a similar style. Other then that if you look at the car as a whole there is no way they look similar.
Im sick of people picking out small details on a car and try and find another car that looks similar just so they can put that car down. Hell i cant tell the difference between ford and holden v8 super cars in a quick glance these days and they look nothing alike. |

Its amazing that the last extreme differentiation in looks between holden & Ford was as recent as the AU & VT. But before that, it would have to be XF & VL.
