Well I had a bit of excitement last night that I could have done without.
Last night at about 12:00am I was just about ready to head off to bed, when I noticed the backyard's security sensor light come on. I headed out onto the rear porch to investigate when I spotted two masked men armed with a shovel and a lenght of timber heading straight for the back entrance onto the porch. Barefoot and completely unarmed, I reversed my direction back into the main part of the house and locked the door behind me so I could have time call the police. For the next five mintues I propped myself up against the door to brace it because both the criminals were doing their absolute best to break it in and gain access. (The emergency operator was busy asking me all these dumb questions while these two ******* tried to bash the door down with me leaning up against the door bracing it.) My wife raced out of the bedroom to see what all the noise was about and to gather up our two small children. They managed to kick-in the outer door skin at the bottom but when the mongrels realised the back door just wasn't going to give way with me bracing it, they left the porch and raced around to the front of my house. Next thing I hear the front windows being smashed in, so I raced into that room armed with a kitchen carving knife and forced them to rethink jumping through the window with me on the otherside armed with a big knife. They tried to get in for about another thirty seconds before giving up and they then smashed the front and rear windshield on my car before fleeing into the darkness. It took the police a few minutes after that before they arrived. At the time, I had no idea who or why my home was targeted but the police explained that what they were probably after was the keys to my car. I drive a FPV F6 310 which as you all know is a high performance vehicle that can actually outrun most police cars here in Perth and that's what they wanted it for. - A get-away car. They had smashed my car's windshields just out of spite because I prevented them from taking it but they didn't touch my wife's car at all. But when they jumped back over the fence to go aound to the front, one of them must have accidentally dropped his used syringe next to my wife's car, which the police later bagged up as evidence. First thing this morning the Forensic Unit showed up and collected further evidence which surprised me but I learned that these same two criminals had four hours previosly succeeded in forcing entry into someone elses home. (Apparently the victims were violently assaulted and then tied up so those mongrels could make their escape.) I never realised at the time they wanted my car keys, all I knew was two masked men armed with makeshift weapons were trying to get inside and there was no way on earth I was letting these two into my home without a fight while my wife and kids were in there. Still besides the property damage which is covered by insurance, they didn't get the car or manage to hurt anyone (Except for one of my dogs - But he's okay now.) and all they really got out of it is a lot more attention from the police and their resources to track them down. (They now the priority of several different detective units that are all out looking for them.) |

Bugger.... I would be very careful... if they were so brazen who knows what would happen down the track, like when the mrs and kids are home and you are not.
Can you park the car close by out of sight for a while to give the impression that you no longer own the car? |

And this my friends is why we need something like the "Castle Doctrine" that they have in some states in the USA.
Police where behind the ball and came afterwards, what if they actually got in? Would this guy be posting on AFF? |

That would have been a scary situation for you and your family.
Glad to see that no one was hurt. Were you yelling at them when they were trying to bust in your back door? I would have thought, that if they knew someone was home, they would have stopped and moved onto their next target. As I said, glad to see no one was hurt. Very lucky indeed. Cheers Col

I am sure that we are all quite concerned about what has occured here.
Examining a million and one what if's, and no amount of speculation / namecalling etc will see these criminals brought to justice. Let's hope that they are caught BEFORE they do any further damage. Or members here on AFF decide to push the site T & C & get themselves into hot water over an incident that they weren't directly involved in... |

Its incidents like this that make me sort of glad that I don't own a nice car.
Makes it all the more worse with small children in the house, they don't need to see that crap. Fords R Cool which area of Perth are you in? There have been a few in the south eastern corridor this month.

Man, what is scary is that they knew you knew they were there - yet they still tried to get in.

Wow glad to hear that you but especially the wife and kids are ok. Bloody pond scum. Do these a***holes have a mother? Do they know what their sons get up to at night??? Hope they are caught soon, better still, pick on some bikies pride and joy and get caught by them in a bad mood. Good on you for being able to maintain your head under incredible circumstances.

Anything less than that (ie overwhelming mitigating circumstances in your defence) you'd probably get done by the cops for shooting the perp

Well mate, I am glad you and your family are alright. I know what you are going through, because I had to live with that reality for 17 years, everyday of my life. You did the right thing by yourself and your family. I reckon one should have undesputed freedom to protect YOUR FAMILY AND HOME. Unfortunately, the police will always be too late. Plus the government and system fails us. But as I stated, happy you are alright mate!

Just give break and enter offences much stiffer sentences - 10 years. Then you would see a lot less. |

and when they come out they are a better and more violent breed of criminal then when they went in. corporal punishment. attempted theft and break and enter - 100 lashes. second offence - 250 lashes third offence - your hand comes off. promise it would take three people to have this happen to before crime drops 50+ %. |

Our two wheeled friends seem to be shooting at each other all over Australia at the moment.. How would you like to be caught in the middle of that with a wooden spoon, Guns don't kill.. It's People that pull the triggers! Jails are already overcrowded, why do you think most sentences are so short.

That's pretty full on, glad everyone is ok as thats the main thing. It may seem crude and outside the square but invest in a cordless circular saw/grinder. Imagine hearing some electric power tool fire up while trying to break into a home, I'd probably change my mind quick smart and run for the hills

Thats terrible mate...It's one thing to try and gain entry when the place is empty, but when you're home !!!
Not sure if it's a Perth thing or not, but I heard a similar story on here about a guy in a Perth suburb, Bibra or Bribie Lake (or something) had his FG XR6T stolen and used as a getaway car.

This is very disturbing to read and I hate to say it, but the night before last night would have been the last decent night’s sleep you will have for a long time. I just hope that your kids weren’t traumatised by it.
I hope that there’s a DNA match with the syringe and hopefully these scumbags will be caught. All the best with the future. Cheers
