Default DIY falcon promotion

I know the falcon advertising discussion has done the rounds in numerous threads on this site already with some healthy debate. The general consensus seems to be Ford are doing 'none' or at least not enough, but...after reading this thread http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...tv+advertising and going through the material and hearing from the people who screw these things together....I've been wondering why there hasn't been more done to try and communicate the great things being done with the new falcon and perhaps convey a bit of inspiration to the masses.

Anyway, getting to the point, I had an hour or two spare the other day and decided to have a crack at blending an old concept (Can't get enough) with the new material and came up with 2 versions of a promotional video...or 'advertisement'.

Final version (after wife's input): http://youtu.be/GZc-nwgiKds

First version : http://youtu.be/Z1aAo-dNNNI

I'm sure there are more creative people than me around the traps, so I'd be interested to see what concepts they could create...post here please.

[Mods...I did do a search for a similar thread but couldn't find one but if there is one I'll merge]

Mate! If I saw that on TV I would be ecstatic - that's awesome!

I have half a mind to email Ford with a link to that and tell them to get it out there! However I don't know if that'd end up with you receiving a nasty letter from their legal team if some of that footage is copyright to them. Or maybe a sneaky email 'congratulating' them on their new ad.

My only gripe (and I'm a perfectionist here), would be that the parked G6E has a sign behind it looks like an aerial, but more grabs your attention away from the car as you work out what it is. Tiny thing but I noticed it.

Seriously though - loved ever second of it, great work!

PS - First like on Youtube!

Hard while everyone is talking about the Holden adverts at the moment saying that you'll get "The same discount as staff", and that "You're one of us". Clever...where's Fords version? You think they'd be jumping all over it...

Mate you have done well. Let's hope this ignites a bit more interest from Ford Australia to get off their butts and start promoting their products. Don't post often online but when I see something worthy I have to post !! Keep them coming.

Well done mate, thats brilliant work.

I had a similar idea a few months back but lack the skills to bring it to life. I wanted to have an ad that did not show the whole car until the final third but basically asked a bunch of questions and showed snippets of the FG as the answer. Hopefully this would get people asking the same questions and surprised that "Ford Falcon" is the answer. Such as "Which dinosaur has large car comfort with Mazda 3 beating economy?", "Which local car has the power to outpace Euro rivals?" and "Which Australian built vehicle has refinement and luxury to compete with the best in the world?" Finally ending with something like "Dinosaur? Not Extinct Yet" or similar.

What you've put together is really great, and shows passion and dedication to the Falcon brand.

BUT - You're not understanding why it is that Ford AU hasn't been marketing the Falcon. And you can have the most incredible audio/visual ads in the world - but that might not make the sales happen anyways.

Love what you've done though - excellent!

Thanks for the feedback guys, all points noted (Simple6/Rancid etc) and certainly giving me some ideas for take #3....

As for this version I just worked with existing material from Ford, which I thought was fantastic...but didn't have a hook for the emotion. Poppa_smurf summed up my feeling about "Can't get enough"...to this day that add and stuck in my head hence the shameless rip-off.

I guess this type of thing mightn't ever sell a car directly...but if I was in marketing it would be about first generating an emotional response and a bit of passion about the brand (not trying to sound too fluffy...but don't think I'm succeeding) and then working on drawing them in from there.

Clearly there is a fair bit of passion coming from the aussies working @ Broady, it would just be nice to see them complimented for the great aussie products they produce (Falcon & Territory).

That's great stuff mate. Wish I had the software, the know-how, and the patience to make something like this.

I would amend some things though. Don't need to see half naked men posturing, or Da Vinci's naked vitruvian man. Just more beautiful looking Falcon.

....the wife's input.

She also recommended including the shot of the bird (falcon) overlay (from design team's video).

my only gripe is there's nothing shown under the heading of technology.
eg
"driven by passion": ford badge, cars driving
design: shot of car and interior, falcon bird (nice touch)
handling: car drives past
Technology: **nothing**???
"driven by innovation": car on dyno

i'd suggest a shot of the dash glowing blue or something that shows the car is technically competent.

Yeh, that's a fair call. Will try to squeeze the touchscreen/dash views in #3 (when I get a few spare moments).

Will also work on a Tezza concept.

Mate, that ad showed me that you have skill, a great mind and most of all passion.

The passion I think is not entirely for Ford, it's the Falcon brand. With that I think the only thing missing is something to do with the history of Falcon in relation to the emotional attachment people have with a Falcon.

Check out the Mustang ad, the comment I love is "everyone has a inner Mustang"...which links the heritage and passion of the Mustang with "everyone"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiyhXf_KVc0

Not saying use the same line, but maybe include something in to link Falcons rich heritage with the general public. Sitting at Bathurst yesterday, there were a lot of ford flags, there is support, just need to pull the emotional string.

even this ad is awesome

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMoyb...ture=endscreen

FPV tried in their TV ads, but in my opinion failed.

But again well done.

Can't believe that I watched over 10 hours of motorsport yesterday without one single Ford ad. Bloody disgraceful.
