Default Ford to continue designing and building in Australia

as many would have heard today on the Bathurst broadcast Bob Graziano stated Ford will continue to design and build cars in Austarlia . sounds like good news for the falcon

Unfortunately, such good news won't silence all the negative Nellies on this site...

This is good news, Ford needs to keep saying it, that's the only way to bring back faith and enthusiasm..

I heard that too. Anything in that comment, or just one of those of those things people say when put on the spot. The former I hope.

Along with commitments to FAPA projects, designing T6 SUV and 2014 upgrades to Falcon and Territory,
Ford still builds vehicles here, and has committed to do so until the end of 2016, no matter how much the
press wishes they would just close down, Ford continues to survive.....

Let's keep this positive, this is great news, it's a public declaration - he could of said many other things to get out of it. Fantastic.

I agree, people are reading too much into this.

It's a PR stunt, do people honestly think he's going to stand there on national tv and say "Nah, we are looking at pulling out of manufacturing in this country". Imagine what that would do for Ford's public image?

Besides, he didn't elaborate whether he was referring to post 2016...

This is the presedent of Ford Australia he would not make a statement like that if he intended to kill off the falcon
Remember he mentioned designing cars here too and only the Terry and the Falcon are locally designed but please don't let facts get in the way of negativity, after all some of you aren't happy unless yopu can find something to be negative about

In 2016 do you really think they will stand by what was said by the then president of the company at a sporting event in 2012

That drunk bloke also gives financial advice

I see what you're saying but how many times does Ford have to commit to building Falcons and Territorys for the next four years.
That is unheard of in Ford circles.

How about Alan Mulally himself.

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/18/m...any-time-soon/

In this very recent interview, he talks about Henry Ford's original purpose that inspired One Ford... and how he believed it to be important to operate where you sell cars. To my knowledge, Ford just recently stepped up it's operation in this country.

Yep, definitely heard it and did a little *jump for joy!*

Good to see at least some of the big boys still supporting the sport by being there and reassuring about Fords future (even if its still smoke and mirrors).

I really do hope all car manufacturers (Ford, Holden and Toyota) keep producing cars in this country....

Who cares what the name badge says when it comes to the model...As long as Aussie workers are making them, the rest isn't worth squat...

AFF: Where when Carguide dig out a quote, and tells us the falcon )or local manufacture) is dead, the same old agree.

But when a Ford Boss tells us otherwise, the same old say its a "Stunt"....

I don't recall Bob Graziano stipulating they will still be making the Falcon in this country...I recall him saying Ford will still be manufacturered in this country...My ears might have been playing up too..

Umm, no.
FAPA design centre is here too, there are projects going on for them as well as T6 SUV and another area for Falcon/Teritory.
I gather there is another design/development area over in Shanghai where a few FoA engineers and staff travel back and forth on assignments.

yes, and mike devereaux said the same thing about holden.

more importantly,

how long has Devereaux been head of holden, and this is his FIRST bathurst?

I saw this too.

A few things: though he mentioned "Ford" many times, I don't recall the word "Falcon" mentioned once....

If cars are built here in 2013 then the pledge to build cars in Aus in the future is fulfilled.

Holden boss was also interviewed and used the opportunity to advertise the Commodores export to the US where it would be badged as a sporting Chev sedan.

I give up you all seem content to find negativity in good news . if they were selling GTs for 10K you would all find a negative aspect to complain about.
we don't need the red team to talk the falcon down the blue team are doing just fine without their help
