So Icebreak (iced coffee) have a muscle car competition going on at the moment. The past few weeks, the Facebook page has been 'advertising' the two competitors in their mock drag race. 'Kung-fu vs Sci-fi'...Kung-fu = Torana, Sci-fi = XB Coupe! Here's the deciding race...
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...2764663&type=3# I'm not a car guru at all, but i'm sceptical of the whole thing. They don't show any of the important parts of the XB, like the motor they put in it etc. However i'm of the opinion that in this instance, just because the torana has speed, it has nothing on the 'B! Style of speed :P Bit of fun, plus the cars are now the prizes for the competition. What do you think? Last edited by MallyKat; 27-11-2012 at 02:59 PM. |

From what I understand the XB has an ls motor in it.

If you look carefully on the vid you see a glimpse of the donk. But the engine cover looks a little like that of a gen3. I may be wrong tho.

Just feels like whoever set the whole thing up favours the torana...you get a decent shot of the motor in it! And on the FB page each car has an album...15 photos of the torana (including engine bay) and now 8 of the XB...exterior and some accessory in the boot to make it appear like a space ship...there were 10 photos, they had some plastic tanks of some sort on the rear seat for the space ship effect...I commented asking for more relevant images (e.g. motor) and those 2 interior shots were deleted shortly after? lol.

The XB definitely has an LS1 motor in it, the Turtle cover is circa VT-VY era

i reckon that turtle cover is just sitting there on top of the 351
theres a gap at the front you can see under, if there was a gen3 in it would sit lower & that gap would have the intake coming out of it bonnent wont even close over it as is. i'll have the xb or the charger |

I have a handfull of entries in. I would be happy with any of them, although if I won the Torana I would likely sell it to fund my 2 current projects.
And that LS1 engine cover was just resting there to make it look more futuristic. As stated above it was way too high. The couple has a 351 in it.

Torana vs XB Coupe is hardly fair. How about something the XB's size and weight like an HQ Monaro?
Hopefully there was no Chevy motor in the Ford. That sort of thing is just sacrilege.

Is it realy an LS1? or just the ninja turtle engine cover to try make it look a bit more 'modern/sci-fi / pretentious'?

The XY Drum Solo wins. But I'd have preferred the Falcon to be the guitar solo as they are better also.

Nice hardtop. Have to admit I'd probably sell it if I won it too. 30-40k would change my life lol

Phht...way to pick a weak Valiant...why did they get one with the 318 truck motor in it? If they wanted real mumbo, they'd have got one with a 265 Hemi in it...preferably the E49. The "E44" was nothing special...it was just an option pack with the gutless 318 V8 in it, usually a 770 auto.

Saw the add on Gumtree and organised to have a look at it this morning. Was won by a young fella named Jordan. Unfortunately he's unable to drive it as he's still on his P's. Car is in a very rough state and may actually be a genuine Goss. Told him to contact Ford and provide all the details of the tags so that he can describe the car more accurately. The silver colour is actually a vinyl wrap which is just awful. Has rust in all the usual places. I mentioned that it may be a Goss because of the colours underneath the vinyl. Not sure where it's real value lay price wise but certainly no where near what he's asking.

As nice as it would be to win an old muscle car you'd think you would win something that's at least had some kind of resto job.
