Default Do I need to be slapped? With a Chair?

Evening folks,

Today I had a rather interesting thought. I was considering making my next daily a BA G220/BF G8. I even took the liberty of researching the things.

Normally, Id be calling the men in white coats by now. So any advice on what to do?

Naturally Ill be keeping the AU since its worth more in my hands than selling it for pittance.

Think you're taking it a bit too seriously. Id be happy with a BF G8.

On the contrary, just adding a bit of humour to the subject (well trying to anyway).

I was thinking the G8 as well, theyre all just so hard to find. Im not sure if the BA is an adequate compromise.

You want the BF G8.

only 10 more kW from the 3V, but 550Nm of torque compared to BA 3V 500Nm.

We had one as a press car at Summernats years ago at the same time we had a BF XR6 Turbo and the G8 could take it right up to the (stock) Turbo XR.

And the 3V has better bottom end torque than the 4V motor too...

I thought it was 470nm (BA) & 500nm (BF)

Either way, the BF is the naturally better choice in all regards. But far less common than the BA. Logic would suggest waiting out for the right BF to appear, but if the BA can be just as "fun", then maybe its worth looking at..?

If you can wait it out for a G8 to appear, I would. Remember too that there's a lot less performance gear available locally for the 3V motor, so any increase in base performance to start with is a blessing.

Also, BF will have the ZF 6-speed auto, most G220's are 4 speeds IIRC???

And you can REALLY feel the extra 50Nm, trust me on that. I would not be surprised to find Ford was under quoting performance specs on the later build 3V motors...

tough it out in your AUlane until the BF appears, the wait will make it even better once you finally get it.
