Default NSW's best kept secret

Quote:
IT'S not Monaco, the Nurburgring or even Oran Park - this racetrack is NSW's best-kept secret.

The privately owned road in Kulnura, on the Central Coast, is a 5.1km Formula One-style track with 22 turns, described by one motorsport champion as the second-best track in the world.

The track, which is said to have cost $10 million, was built by car enthusiast and former Coca-Cola Amatil boss Dean Wills after he lost his licence for speeding on the old Pacific Highway in 1996.

Pictures: Australian International Motor Show

Mr Wills wanted to enjoy his growing fleet of exotic cars - which included the only McLaren racing car ever sold privately -

I am going to move next door to this track so I can get it shut down. After all, it was there first.

What was reported to have been said -

Quote:
described by one motorsport champion as the second-best track in the world.
What was actually said -

Quote:
Wayne Gardner described the road as his second favourite circuit in the world behind Suzuka in Japan.

There's quite a glaring difference between the two, still a good looking track though

I think I have heard about this track before? Is that the same one that is near Mangrove Mountain? If memory serves he allows a certain 'Drive a supercar for a day' companies access for some hot laps. Well, I think thats what I heard when I was with them having lunch.

It has been posted before, I think via a google earth screen shot? I did tell the 'possible' story behind it in a little more detail, wonder if what i posted was close to the truth? Will need to dig up the thread!

Still... what a cool backyard to have ;)

Yep, I remember that thread. I even spent some time playing around with it from Google Earth - although there's no streetmaps view of it. There's quite a drop down into the hairpin.

Anyone care to go dredging?

I herd that it got through council by calling it a driveway not a racetrack. that way they dont have all of the dramas of OHS & neighbour complaints about a "racetrack"

Volvo Car launched the S60 over a year ago at the track. Had a few known race drivers put it through its paces

A friend of mine had the chance to drive around it a few weeks ago, shame he was in his Landcruiser.

Haven't spoken to him directly since he did it, so I am not even sure why he was there.

He does drive rally cars so it must have something to do with that.

Here's a nice fact He actually lets his neighbors and the like use the track. They have an understanding with him as my friend lives on the next property over.

This track is also know as "The Farm". If you want to drive it then it's invite only or you can experience it through this mob during a Supercar Track day.

I have driven with that mob as referenced in post 12. Did the whole day supercar drive and I'm pretty sure I over heard the guy running the day that they do use that track as well.

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11332571

I over heard the story behind the track and if memory serves it matches what the posted article says.
