Description Boot covering shifter shaft entry into gearbox extension. Not sure if same as item below, I don't have the parts diagram, only a parts listing. Hi Allan,
The reverse light switch can be sourced from ebay or Burtons: http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-gu...e-gbt9545.html You can buy new and used gearshift assemblies (depending on the thread size needed) from Motomobil in Germany, who would also have the reverse switch: http://www.motomobil.com/produkte,32...egory_id=12&q= Not sure if anyone in Oz can source these? Cheers Jamie |

You may need to be creative with the floor hole boot, as the rubber boot for the type 5 was round like the 4cyl ones. Maybe fit a boot from the external linkage box with the metal surround to clamp it down?

Cosworthfreak - thanks for the reply.
I'm aware of Motomobil (EUR100+ for a gearstick) and Burtons for the reverse switch. And the gearstick boot-over-cone I need looks awfully like a Type 9 style. Was hoping to find things a bit more local .....Ha ha ha, yeah right..... |

Try an Escort boot...,may be a little small.
I recently picked up a type 5 from a new club member who recently arrived with a container load of parts from the UK....As you can image, he's a popular fellow at the meetings. PM me and I'll forward you his mobile number. Pretty sure he can help. |

Well, after some digging around the web and my boxes of junk.....
1. I found the steering wheel hub spring will do for the gearstick compression spring. One problem solved. 2. The reversing light switch I bought from Burtions and was assured was correct....ain't. A 3/4" x 2.5tpi is not equal to a 14mm x1.5tpi (nil response to mismatch issue I raised with Burtons). Some other web sites have them listed - Motomobil out of stock (no supplier), another queried with no response, and another site I ordered successfully was cancelled with 'the website is built wrong, no supplier'. Marvellous. Or..I'll try soldering some pins onto the back of my ground-away old switch. Or..I'll make a threaded sleeve to pad out the Burtons-supplied Type 9 switch to fit the Type 5 box. 3. The boot into the geatrstick extension can be mostly covered by a 4 cyl gearstick boot. Might do at a pinch..... 4. The floor boot I can use a generic or a 4cyl as suggested, so no problem there. Some progress, other issues need more thought. p.s. Whooligan - PM sent |
