Default My first week with the GT

Well my BF GT arrived from Queensland on Tuesday last week. Couldnt have been a happier man. On saturday 4 days after getting the green beauty i was parked in a friends drive way and about to take off and BAM BAM the driveshaft snapped in half along with some part of my gear box. After 2 days of being absolutely devastated, i took it to ford this morning and there is an outstanding driveshaft recall on it and have agreed to replace and fix all problems and parts free of charge! A short but interesting story i thought i might share with everybody.

What year and month is the car - auto or manual.

There was an issue with the tailshafts rusting from the inside out. Good to see it sorted and they looked after you.

It's not an uncommon problem, the same thing happened to my Fathers early FG XR6.

Technical Contributor: For members who share their technical expertise. - Issue reason: Trev has owned several boosted fords and has really contributed a lot of info on them. His posts in the bike section are also very helpful. I think he should be recognised as a technical contributor.

You're very (extremely) lucky it broke when you were parked in the driveway when it happened....and not cruising down a highway.

Why? It was a known issue that was found out after the build and a recall issued. The fact that it wasn't done before he bought it wasn't his fault or Fords. Problem recognised and sorted free of charge by the dealers. If anything it should be a good example of quality control that Ford recognised issue and put out the recall. The second is how the dealer handled the situation.

Ford is not the only company who has recalls. Every manufacturer has them.
