me Broome to Meekathara WA, about 1500km, AUII XR8 220, was doing 140+ most of the way

Ive done that trip in a fully laden Rodeo and had to split up the trip into 2 days. Then again we were only travelling 90kph. Fair effort by you though. That's a decent drive.

Did almost 1800km in one day in my BF Super Pursuit, left home at about 6am and pulled up at about midnight. Had to pretty much stick to the speed limit due to my ute having 4.11 and didnt want to rev it tits off all day...
Never again though 18 hours of driving in one day was a mission, almost dangerous

About 16,900 km, travelling Sydney to Manchester UK, in an Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 via Abu Dhabi... And then back again some days later...... Oh, plus the 70km or so from home to the airport, and then back again a few days later.

I could claim Sydney to Devonport, Tas, 1,000 km in one day - but the car was on board a ship almost all of the way! Motorway and outback records are not fair I reckon. Back in my early days the east coast was challenging on the old highways with all their constant curves and hills. The only bit of motorway on the whole Hume was some distance out of Melbourne. In the days of de facto limits and no radar I'd do up to 160 on that. Sydney to Melbourne 1,000 km on the old highway in 9 hours in a P76 V8. The "regular" driving time was then considered to be 12 hours iirc. Same car 1,100 km Melbourne to Maitland in one run. That car could do bends like a scalded cat and chewed the hills with the V8. Nowadays with the motorway I guess you could possibly do Sydney-Melbourne in 9 hours under the current speed limits? I haven't tried it for some years. I think the Wheels guy did it in 6.5 hours at 130 - that's what it should be in a sensible road regime. Wouldn't do what I did then now and today's proto-fascist official nannying puts the lid on it anyway. Driving in Europe provides the occasional outlet where it's nice to be able to do over 160 legally! Note: I'm still alive after going more than "one km/h over" all those years. I had a mate back in the late 80s' who said he did Whyalla to Brisbane, (2028km according to google maps), in just over 21 hrs in an XT falcon. I called BS but he swore it was true and he wasn't the type to tell tall stories.

25 years ago did Sydney to Adelaide via Broken Hill in a 1984 Gemini.
Recently did a Melbourne - Sydney - Melbourne with a 15 minute stop to drop off stuff in Sydney. That was in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Much more comfortable than the Gemini! |

Meh, I did Home to Adelaide and back, with a detour up into the hills to Williamstown, in a day for a total near 1400km, and that was just last week.

Bendigo to Gold Coast, non stop, only stop for fuel in a Harley Davidson Fat Boy, just under 1700km, about half of it was in the rain
Just had to get there…not sure how long it took, but was a marathon.

Adelaide to Coolangatta, about 2200k's took just over 24hrs.
VS Acclaim with 6x4 caged trailer. I did have a co driver who took over at Gilgandra but fell asleep behind the wheel within half an hour so I kicked him out and resumed control. Bought a Motorbike and had 2 hours sleep in a cabin in Lismore before returning to Adelaide. I drove all the way home, taking no chances. Left at 11am Saturday morning, got home at 7pm Monday evening. Was an epic drive, took 3 days to recover, not something I recommend. |

I remember once some freinds and I had to deliver a truck load of beer. We had to travel the 1150 kms in 28 hours and we made it with 10 minutes to spare. Bo, Cletus and I had lots of fun on that trip between Texarkana and Georgia.
