Ford need to do a low ride auto ranger. Hilux is the only one that offers low autos. If they do they would overtake hilux comfortably

Ford aren't interested in low riders. The dollars are in the big ones.

All of Fords single cab utes are overpriced for a reason.

This has to be a golden era for all the players in the dual/single cab ute segment. The profit margins on these things must be astronomical!

The development that goes into them couldn't be a fraction of what goes into a normal passenger car. Old school tried and tested ladder frame, whack a masculine body on top, pull some tech of the corporate shelves - done! Driving dynamics and handling? Doesn't matter! The overall spec level is down as well, drum brakes one the back, spartan interiors. They're all built in Thailand, shipped over here with zero taxes, and they still cost close to $60k. The new V6 Amarok is pushing $80k!

Plus we're talking about the highest selling segment = mega mega huge crazy profits all round!

Depends how you look at it I guess. The Ranger is class leading and probably has the most R&D of them all.

They still all should be 10k cheaper if you ask me based on what you get.

The driving dynamics and tuning of the suspension is really very good ( all points considering ) in the best rated of these 'utes'.

I've driven a new Ranger and it isn't a bad daily drive ! It's no Territory, but for many, it'll do just fine.

These body on frame vehicles have come a long way in 10 years.

I'm actually glad the Mondeo is matching the Mazda 6...considering the Mazda markets it more then Ford markets the Mondeo...room for improvement there however.

I wonder if the Mondeo will pick up sales now that the Falcon has gone.

Don't think so : If people are looking at a towing capacity : Mondeo can only tow 1600kgs.. Falcon is 2300kgs...but we can only hope ....

I thought the towing market moved to SUV's and Dual Cabs now?

Especially with families that have two cars, one can be the run around and the other the 'duties' vehicle.

Well we just sold a new Mondeo to a customer that has always bought Falcons. Doesn't tow. So maybe they will

You keep bringing this up, but who in their right mind went out to buy a Falcon to tow over 2 tonne anyway when they are so many more capable vehicles these days.

Mondeo with its 1600 capacity is plenty for the average 6x4 trailer they will likely ever tow

So you yourself have bought an SUV for towing, why have a crack at the Mondeo?

Don't you read any online reviews?? Its a Daewoo underneath, built in South Korea. Well known in the industry for all its faults.

But that's just a Daewoo with Holden badges really, like a Holden with Chev badges, isn't it??

Ok, I get that this is a Ford forum but why do we pray for the success of Ford after the end of Australian manufacturing?

I know manufacturing will likely never return here, but why prove to Ford they made the right choice and that something like a Mondeo is a suitable replacement for a Falcon?

because every ford car that is sold here gets dollars into Ford of Australia that funds the future development work that 1500 engineers in Geelong and Broadmeadows are doing

Oh, for the love of god....

The right choice was proven when people stopped buying Falcons...

Because they did make the right choice. The Mondeo is a better car than the Falcon. Much quieter, much more refined, better built, more comfortable, bigger boot, more fuel efficient, more advanced features ...

And because it's a Ford. It's like footy, once you follow a team, you don't jump ship. I like all Fords, I don't care where they come from as long as it's a Ford. Ecosport aside, the current Ford offerings in each class are at or near best in class.

Here's to continued success for the blue oval

Really? Maybe better than a BF Fairmont but an FGx G6E still trumps a Mondeo.

I'm quite proud of it. Will mondeo spares, fixes, and forums be around for decades? No. The work mondeo I put a few kms on was as souless and lacking in character as a camry. Sure they are great appliances, do their designed function well, but just like a busted toaster you throw it out and get a new one. It doesn't feel part of the family and no kids go to high school graduations in first gen camrys.
