G'day....What about the sounds this thing makes from 2010 ish I think..
Who said a Falcon 6 racecar couldn't sound great..Doesn't look bad ether. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4CFyv0tVR8 Too late now for the new Supercar rules but ................. Really cool... Question is though . could the Barra have been set up as a serious contender as a racing engine like the five litre V8 or would it have been all too hard to do the development. I know it's all academic now but the Barra Turbo platform has proven to be a major success and allows a huge range of upgrades that see it be able to take on a lot more stresses than most engines and it's durability might well have allowed for a lot more development as an outright performance/racing engine .. Cheers Rod.. Last edited by roddy1960; 25-03-2017 at 09:57 AM. |

I just wonder how they would have gone over 1000 kms on the mountain if they'd ever had development to the same level the V8 race motors had.. Ironically I recently saw a report about the Bugatti Veyron and the fastest Lamborghini (firetrap if ever there was) and a similarly modded F6 as per video would be faster to the quarter mile than both...Obviously once the 16 cylinder quad turbo Veyron got going it'd be 'see ya' after 200 kmh but just the same it is still pretty impressive for a DOHC six pot single turbo with a 6 speed transmission...Here's a Daily Telegraph report on a Veyron and Nissan GTR over the quarter mile. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...ace.html..That F6 with a Nizpro turbo upgrade is every bit as quick in this regard.. The standard FG and FGX could do in the 12's with a proper tune etc... Bugatti Veyron about 10.17 seconds.. Cheers Rod All pie in the sky stuff now but we can still be curious how the ol' Barra might have gone over time...Cheers Rod.. Last edited by roddy1960; 25-03-2017 at 12:25 PM. |
