Can anyone confirm 100% that older falcons have seating capacity labelled on ID tags?
Im finding it hard with prospective sellers to work out if cars can legally seat 6 if equipped with a bench seat and column shift. To late for the snip so just need to work with whats out there. For example; https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/rose...500/1144314123 or http://fordmusclecars.com.au/viewItem.asp?ItemID=13872 I just want to find out if there is a way I can stop annoying people by asking what the tag says. Cheers

I'm pretty sure that the ID tag didn't state whether 4,5, or 6 seater. The Fairlne pictured would be a 5 seater because the centre arm rest thingy didn't have seatbelts.Cars fitted with front bench seat would come with 3 front belts.

Yeah the tag has the seating capacity noted, I've only seen 5 seats as I seem too play with Fairmont and GTs..with bucket seats.
Would have thought a bench seat car would have to indicate 6 seats if you actually intend to carry 6... IMO ask what int says own the tag.. |

Surely if they came with a factory fitted centre lap belt and the centrefold seat option they would have to be six seaters.
The centrefold seat was a bench seat with individual back rests and a centre armrest which folded up and became a back rest for the centre passenger. Falcons fitted with this option also had a column gear shift and extra centre lap belt. very popular in utes and vans.

Tags should denote seating capacity. I'm almost 100% certain that mine at home says Seats: 6
I remember this because I considered putting buckets in but a change in seating capacity requires a mod plate. If you want to be 100% for sure, I can check my XB Sedan when I get home. It's a Falc 500, with bench seat. I'll double check the tag for you if you want? He's a pic of a wagon tag. Seating capacity: 7

What I remember is from the mid 60's car manufactures started to put seating capacity on the ID plates when installing seat belts, I was driving Holdens in those days & quite sure from 1965 or 1966, what I do know Victoria was the 1st state to legislate compulsory seat belts in 1970 & started to enforce seating capacity laws.

If it helps my panel van is plated as a 3 seater (bench, column shift, centre lap seatbelt)
re, the Victorian rego, this states insurance scheme is based on the number of seats the vehicle has, ie the higher the seating capacity the higher the rego charge. For this reason a 3 seater truck (under 4.5T GVM) is cheaper to register that your average car.
