Probably something to do with the end of financial year and tradies have some tax that they would like to minimise...

The Hilux had there lead thanks to fleet sales of the 2wd povo pack model. The 4wd version was a 1000 behind the Ranger.

It's simple, contrary to all the BS people like to sprout, consumers DON'T want "smaller cars"
Whereas previously the typical "Australian Family Car" was a medium to large station wagon, now its an SUV or dual-cab. |

But, I think families are now not sticking to the one car any more which is where the Falcon and Commodore proved so versatile. I think the typical modern household has an SUV or dual cab AND the small, economical run about. Hence the sales of both of these types of cars are strong. One is used as the to and from work vehicle (cheapish to buy and operate, easy to operate in traffic) and the other is used for carrying the occasional load (moving house or to uni for kids) and general weekend work with the ability to take the whole family with you if needed.

There's something in that, although it's hard to know what a typical family is these days. If I consider my family I have a Calais V and a BF2 ute, my wife has a Kuga. All my kids are married and 3 of 4 have kids. Daughter 1 has 2 x SP25 (replacing 1 soon - too small) Daughter 2 has an Evoque and a Prado Daughter 3 has a Kia Optima (replacing with SUV soon) Daughter 4 has an SS and a Colorado Of my immediate neighbours - G6E, Focus Aurion, Hyundai i30 x 2, Kia Cerato Mazda 3, Landcruiser Ranger, Sportage Hilux, BF Looking at that it's fair to say that in my immediate area at least, your theory holds true.

As a person with a smaller car this has been well and truly noticed for a while. You can't see **** ahead of you. Hang it out on the edge for a bit to get a peak
