Post Ford Endura Pricing and Specs announced from $44,990.

Australian pricing and specifications for the new, imported 2019 Ford Endura have been announced today, almost exactly two years since the company killed its Australian manufacturing program.
The last Aussie-made Territory and Falcon models rolled down the line on the 7th of October, 2016. The Mondeo lives on as something of a successor to Ford's big sedan, and, from December, there'll finally be another large 'softroader' SUV in blue oval showrooms.
Known elsewhere as the Edge (a name Ford couldn't secure locally), the Ford Endura was revealed in mid-2014, but a facelifted and upgraded model was rolled out earlier this year to ensure local buyers benefit from a fresher and more competitive offering.

The local line-up will kick off with the $44,990 Trend model, followed by the sportier $53,990 ST-Line. The range tops out at $67,990 for the high-grade Titanium spec (all prices in this article exclude on-road costs).

All models will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine only, producing 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
Petrol and more powerful diesel options exist for overseas markets, but those have not been confirmed for Australia. Petrol engines for the US include 183kW 2.0-litre and 224kW 2.7-litre V6 turbo units, while the UK gets a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with 154kW and 450Nm.
Also hands-off for us is the new ST model, producing a mighty 250kW and 515Nm.

Back to poor deprived Australia, an eight-speed torque converter automatic will be standard, with a choice of front- or all-wheel-drive available in all three trim levels. Opting for AWD will add $4000 to the price of each model.
The five-seat Endura's 2849mm wheelbase is 7mm longer than the departed seven-seat Territory, making for comparable interior space – but, at 4775mm long, it is shorter overall by 80mm. A seven-seat model exists for China, which adds 70mm to the model's length, but that's just another version of the Endura we won't see here.

For rear storage, the longer Territory claimed 1153 litres behind the second row (floor to ceiling), while the Endura lists 800 litres. Ford has not specified if this is also floor-to-ceiling, although earlier figures for the Endura's floor-to-seat-top storage were listed at 602 litres.

While the Edge won't tow 2700kg like the all-wheel-drive diesel Ford Territory could, Ford claims it will tow 2000kg with a braked trailer – making the big ute-based Everest the only option for buyers towing larger loads.
Standard-fit safety highlights across the range include Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, along with Roll-Stability Control, Post-Collision Braking, Evasive Steer Assist and Lane Keep Assist.

Not a bad line up and Endura will present as a more premium SUV than the Escape.

none of the petrol versions were through developed as RHD versions...

No petrol, no thanks.

That crosses another Ford off the list of potential future purchases

Anyone from Ford Australia reading this just remember, the customers didn't desert you, you deserted the customers.

Sad really .

It’s pricing let’s it seat amongst established 7 seaters. Why would you have this (from a practicality standpoint) over a 7 seater?

Sad really, no doubt it’s a fantastic car.

Why not the 238hp ~177kW euro tune..or even the Ranger Raptor tune?
At that price there should have been NO options for the Titanium.

For all the talk from Ford about the Endura being a "premium" offering, they then expect buyers to fork out for "premium" features like premium sound, panoramic sunroof and rear entertainment system! Australian doesn't even get the "premium" engines.

All Ford Titanium vehicles have options that should be standard. Strange idea ?

I thought this new Endura was supposed to get the Eco blue diesel like the Raptor with 175kw?

So did I....might investigate a tune for the Territory once out of warranty, keep it and grab an Escape for the wife in Jan 2020.

Obviously I need to drive one however I'm the exact target market for the Endura, my last brand new Ford vehicle purchases have been BA Futura wagon, FG G6ET, Territory, Territory, and again in Feb 2107 the last of the SZII Territory's...(Transit Custom for work)

My immediate thoughts, again without driving one is ..what compels me to buy one..the powertrain doesn't drag me in, the pricing doesn't say rush and pre-order as its considerably more than what I paid early last year and the cargo area doesn't say it will carry as much as a Territory, mind you the the CX9 also doesn't match a Tezza....

A smooth V6 240kW+ engine would have me lined up, a 170+kW diesel would probably have me buying soon enough but.....I'm not drawn in... ..fuel economy isn't a major concern of mine...driving dynamics, build and quality, space, safety tech...and somewhere later fuel bills....

Not having a high power diesel option is a strange choice. Should have been standard in the Titanium.

Especially if it's just a state of tune vs any mechanical differences.

In the large SUV segment it isn't. Most of them are diesel only, and make up most of the sales. Kluger is the one exception as it's petrol only. But a lot of the others do have a petrol option.

Should have a petrol option.
At least Ford can cater for both markets.
I sure wouldn't get a diesel and I am sure others would rather petrol too.
Time will tell I guess.

Not at all. Everest is a totally different vehicle being a full chassis off roader, and can tow considerably more.

Escape is much cheaper and smaller. Probably not a lot of crossover in terms of size and price.

actually, looking back, I think there may be something in what kevino said. If Endura was released with a better engine and 7 seat capacity, there is a real chance that it would steal some of the more lucrative Everest sales. Perhaps limiting the options to 5 seat only, and one engine option, is in part to protect the other two segments they are already competing in.

People cross shop all sorts of vehicles these days, and the fact that a car is categorised as MC class, doesn't mean people won't buy it for general duties. Look how many LC's are bought only as family cars. Plenty of Everests will never go off road.

Everest is starting to consistently sell 450+ each month. I doubt ford would want to eat in to that in any way with a lesser value vehicle.

It should have a petrol option. Even just the 2 litre ecoboost would have been sufficient. Although with the way the market is increasing in terms of sporty SUV's the ST should have been a no brainer.

But who knows if they ever developed the V6 versions for RHD. Probably not.

Europe screws us here because we share models with them and they prefer mostly diesel. We do too but we have segments of buyers who only want petrol, which they don't.

Just thinking that before, a few decades ago European style, driving dynamics, performance... etc was what mainstream Australian car buyers wanted...American products were considered inferior.
And now here in Oz dual cab utes and SUV's rule. Add the fact American passenger cars are not the "yank tanks" of old as their biggest selling models are Accords and Camry's and add the enormous sales of large pick-ups..and we are more closely aligned with US buyers in driving tastes then ever before....if we had US priced fuel and drove on the RHS we would have very similar buyer demographics right now.

I need to ensure my Territory lasts a long time now.
This "replacement" is a step backwards really compared to what we have/had.

And there's no availability of all models like overseas markets.

As we don't produce our own vehicles now ... we are just an after thought (I guess we still were when they were producing here).

that was one thing I was surprised with when looking in to them as a replacement
at how less refined it seemed to the terri at a higher than expected expense
wish I hadn't had the issues with the terri I had that lead to its demise with ford taking it back as they didn't have anything that I found suitable for its replacement in their line up

wish I hadn't had the issues with the terri I had that lead to its demise with ford taking it back as they didn't have anything that I found suitable for its replacement in their line up
If you don't mind the question, how did you get to drive one as by my reports the 2.0L diesel and AT 8 speed combo is fairly smooth....just should have been the hi/po version.

I thought I saw somewhere we were going to get the ST?

Looks like a good car, not sure about the price though. Think they are pushing it a little much with that asking price.

Especially when a brand new mid-range SZII TS Territory Petrol RWD 7-seater was $39,990 including onroads

We get an "ST-Line" spec..which is like a "sports-styling" version of a model while "ST" is a proper higher performance version of the same model.

Anyone agree that endurer may cannabilise sales of Escape and Everest.

How does 2 litre diesel engine make it any different?
