Default Ranger Raptor Series 2

So I’m very close to buying a Raptor, the only thing making me hesitate is Ford crumbling under the pressure and releasing a more powerful engine down the track.

Wondering if there is any real talk of it happening? Anyone in the know?

Hmm, yes, something I'm considering. But same issue, will they upgrade the donk?

I’m already considering paying $80k, so yeah I think so.

Just don’t want to get one and then a better version right rolls out a few months later.

Not that I believe there’s anything inherently wrong with the current model.

Better versions always roll out a few months later. If they did'nt nobody would buy new ones. That's just the car game . Buy used, you save a ton of money. Maybe you work in the mines and earn 80,000 for only six months work. If so , who cares how much money you wast.

US Ranger is getting a 2.3L ecoboost, whether the volume justifies getting a second engine through compliance for our market, who knows.

What engines will the regular Rangers be offered with? Just diesel? It would be ludicrous if the Raptor ended up with the least powerful engine in the range....

There's a Ranger up here that's going to wear a Barra T soon. Work is just beginning.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Does it have AEB yet or is that due for the second half of the year, things like that will matter to resale in the future.

FORD has bumped up the prices of its popular Ranger series but has also added extra equipment to compensate on some variants, including the belated inclusion of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) driver-assist technology on every model including the Raptor flagship.

On sale from June, most models now cost between $250 and $650 more than before depending on the variant, with the perennial-favourite Wildtrak copping an $800 rise, while the Raptor jumps $600 to $75,990 plus on-road costs – its second price hike in less than nine months.

BPT are putting kms into a flashed test mule at the moment. Figures so far are 125nm and 25 kw gain.

Might be an option!

They're in discussions to bring back the Ford Centurion Van-Truck but a Raptor edition with 17 turbos 1000cc big block 2 cylinder diesel engine with 76 gears, they've estimated its going to make a MASSIVE 73KW and 200NM of torque:

'Ford Performance' Thailand edition bro

Just buy it.
Because if they do release one with a better engine a few years down the track, you can bet there'll be rumours of something better again, and you'll wait forever for the next upgrade.

If they do come out with a bigger engine, sell up and buy the next one.

For all those non believers,
Across the Asia Pacific region, Ranger Raptor sold well in the last four months of 2018

Quote:
The new, off-road, high-performance Ford Ranger Raptor, which started launching across Asia Pacific markets in the third quarter, contributed to the Ranger’s 2018 record with sales of more than 5,030 vehicles.
https://ph.news.yahoo.com/ford-range...080037372.html
Considering total Ranger sales in Asia pacific was 139,500 last year, Australia is about 30% of that figure.
By deduction, that would mean "roughly" 1,500 Raptors were sold in Australia last year.

I think Australia got around 1000 raptors in 2018... Not all have sold yet.

First world problems. The Ranger Raptor is that the benchmark for high speed off-roading built around 33’s, wide stance and big clearance. It’ll scare the crap out of you before you scare it. You could see all of Oz on that trip of a lifetime before another model comes out. Pick a colour, choose a destination and disappear. I saw a black one in Canberra last week, beautiful.
