Well finally after 2 weeks of sweating and swearing (mostly swearing) my little TC cortina has a big beautiful 2v 250 inbetween the shocker towers. And what a massive moment it was too.
So theres only a few little things to sort out now, like tuning the carb, get the massive exhaust leak fixed, probably with a new exhaust and extractors, 2 new radiator hoses, stike up a sponsorship deal with the local BP and a set of tires for the back. Very happy person indeed. So im looking forward to Heathcote with a whole lot more excitement now! See ya'll there!

Brilliant. Can't wait to see that 'ol 250 back in action.... what could be ironic is the XW that engine came out of might be there with its 351 in place!
Best of luck and keep us updated. |

Pics will be up asap! It needs to tuned properly, and get the exhaust done.. because tonight *sniffs* i got dragged off by a Hyundai Getz... and lost =(
I think the Auto is slipping majorly.. because when i used to shift manually it would give a bit of a shove, but now its just really smooth. I might have to put the Auto that came with it in it too... We'll see. Goddamn friggin cars, why cant we just keep them standard!?

heh, exactly xa. nevahhh!!!!
I'll be going to the ever reliable fountain of knowledge that is my father tomorrow to get a hand moving the brake booster over 10mm or so and ill give him a drive to see what he reckons about the auto. It just doesnt feel *right* Then extractors, and then the dyno tune, THEN FIND THAT GETZ!

Have the auto that came with it reco'd and use the stall converter that came with it and I reckon you'll be right. I know it handeled the power before in a much heavier car.
Whats wrong with the extractors that were on the engine? |

those motors can hammer, the Gets i hired in QLD was a rocket 1.5 manual though but with a good tune the corty would want to be quicker as it will easily use twice the fuel.
good luck how many fist dents did that take |

The extractors dont fit in the corty, they're too wide. The car is at the exhaust shop as i speak, they had to order a brand new set of pacemakers from Melbourne, because they're the only people apparently that make extractors for a 6 to fit into a Cortina. Oh well.. it needed a new exhaust, kinda, almost...
As for the auto, i umm.. *talks under breath* forgot to hook up the kickdown cable. Hence why its shifting so poorly. Once that is hooked up it should be fine. But im going to keep the one that came with the 2v that i bought of Greg, just for a spare, if (when) the original gives up the ghost. I just keep telling myself its all a learning experience.
