Default T3 TE50 or BA GT

Well guys, I've cracked the s*#ts with the EB and I'm looking for a new car. I'm looking at a T3 TE50 or a BA GT (maybe even a BA XR8).

I've found the TE's are alot cheaper at the moment and I thought they would be more collectable due to there limited build number.

Depends on what you're after really. If you want a collectable type of car, you're not going to modify (so you've gotta like the stock performance) and such, go for the TE50. In a few years, they'll be worth alot.

The BA GT is newer, and alot more common. Its a really tough one to decide. Personally, I'd get the GT, as its newer, and well, in my book, newer is better. Decision is up to you really. TE50 is kind of an investment, I don't think the GT is as much (they've already sold more of them then the entire T3 T-Series put together, maybe then the entire T-Series in total).

A very, VERY tough decision. At the moment I'm saying GT but that is bound to change.

I'd go the GT, although they are both awesome cars. Very tough choice indeed.

Depends on what your looking for in a car.
If you want a smooth powerfull tourer that will be used for every day motoring go the GT. Its a very nice car to live with day to day.

If you want a kick **** traffic light stormer thats a little harder to live with, go the T3. Theres not many of them around so you will stick out from the crowd..

Go the TE50. GTs are too common now. Still an awesome car, but TE50s are a bit different.

I would never EVER count a production line built car becoming an investment. Therefore I would discount that argument as a good one for a T3. I cannot see it being worth "a lot" in the near future, however it _MAY_ hold its value better than a GT in the near future - however I can't really see that happening too much.

I would go the GT, make sure you get one premium sound, brembo's and stripes

hmm. a 43 year old push rod piece of iron with a stroker or an overhead cam modern monster thats been detuned. a body that was uglier than a hat full of a$$holes or a nice balanced looking car with an awesome front end presence.
not really a tough decision BA GT for mine.

Lets look at it from the other side for a sec huh?

An overweight, understeering lump or an acclaimed balanced car? Something that has become common as muck or one of the elite few? A nightmare of techno limitation or a raw stormer? Shall I go on? A mass produced QC horror or a handbuild classic in the making?

If your looking at it from one perspective then it sometimes serves to look at it from another, often perspetive can be blinding.

As for the question. If you are into modding and going for all out power the GT is the way to go. It has the runs on the board (finally) and the mod shops are now heavily geared up to work on them. They are also more refined and certainly one of the most comfortable Falcons ever made.
If you are after a bit of exclusive style and the potential investment(based on history EVERY SINGLE handbuilt and numbered Falcon has become a classic after about 20-25 years) oppertunity, the T3. They are a unique part of Falcon history and have a sound that is glorious to the ears.

Daily driver or weekend warrior? GT or T3.

If its your only car, go the GT. It certainly would be easier to live with day to day. Just for the fuel savings alone.

I was looking at a TE50 at the movies last night and geez they are an AWESOME bit of kit and sound sooooo horn, however i would allways go the GT as its newer, looks, sounds and goes great. You would also have to take $$ into consideration as you would not pass up a well maintained TE50 IF the price was right.

I chose GT, you should drive both if possible and decide from there.

Based on the history of this very topic and the comment "uglier than a hat full of a$$holes" which is just asking for a reply, I'd say that you got out of it pretty easy. I've seen small wars start for a lot less on this forum.

Looks particularly is such a subjective thing. I know quite a few people that find the AU's more attrative than the BA's. I also know many that find the E Series more attractive than both. Then theres the X series guys who think the world after Clevos is an empty shell. Finally the Holden guys who think all Fords look pretty average at best.
Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. In your case you have found the BA to be your choice..and a good one it is... but that same choice shouldnt be applied to all, its simply your opinion.

This is a hard one but all the good points do point to the BA GT.The T3's are a great car at the moment as they are quite cheap.But as a collective side of it both aren't really going to get you far anyway.If it's performance your after the BA GT is the pick or if your after something that's cheap and looks modern the T3 is the pick.

My head says GT but my wallet says T3. :P

I looked for one but couldn't find a decent one in manual, they're mainly all autos. I wouldn't worry about it being a collectors item but the T3 has great looks and a fair bit of get up and go.

Yeap Id be going T3 - last of the Au's and pretty refined for a falcon.

BA's are good but have there issues aswell people, so dont judge a book by its cover.

Hell Id even take a T2 before a GT; and then slap on a supercharger. That would be one horn car. A T1 would be pushing it...lol

Does anyone have the production figures colour wise for the TE50???

I believe blue(blueprint and narooma) is very common, haven't seen alot of silver red or green.

Actual numbers anyone??????????????

I only have numbers for the Series 2 TS50. Sorry no colour numbers for the TE50.

i agree with the T2 and T3 but wats wrong with T1 they look awesome aswell i dunno if i supercharge it cause all thought it would b a monster would it loose some "uniqueness' but it would gain some in other areas i.e minginator

Go the T-series. The BA's have MAJOR QC problems from what I've seen and read on various forums, papers, magazines, ect.. ect... I was in the same position as you about a year and a half ago. Thank god I bought the TS50. Hope the BA MKIII has ALL these problems sorted, then I'll think about updating.

"MAJOR QC problems"? You must be doing some very selective reading. I would HARDLY call any issues the BA has had "MAJOR". If I were to use your measure, I've lived with an AU that had MAJOR QC issues with the auto, MAJOR QC issues with the rubber seal letting water in, MAJOR QC issues with instrumentation and MAJOR QC issues in regards to NVH levels. BTW, try opening and closing an AU driver's side door that's had a few km's on it. Then you'll see MAJOR QC issues.
