Default Photo of Monaro trying to be a Falcon GT

I took this shot on the weekend - not the usual paint job that I know of.

Yep

When Steve Kinser was winning 15 World of Outlaws series in a row with his uncle Karl Kinser building the Sprintcars for him, it was commented that if Karl showed up to a race meet with a big ol' turd sitting on the bonnet, it wouldn't be long before a lot of the other cars would have one - GOLD!

Interestingly, Karl said in an interview that the cars he was building then (early 90's) were about the same weight as the ones he was building 15 and 20 years earlier - the rest of the field was just getting down to the same weight as they realised how important car weight is - I guess it's good when there is no weight rule and no-one knows what your car weighs...

worst thing is they are just for show!!!
They are not just for show. They allow a small amount of air into the engine bay via holes in the rubber moulds. The amount of air isn't huge but as most people know the LS1 suffers from heat soak so any amount of cooler air in the engine bay is useful. How much usefulness they provide I couldn't tell you but they do serve a purpose other than looking good.
As to the stripes - they are hideous on both the Monaro shown and the Yellow one at Booran Holden and also the GT (maybe the Blue with silver looks ok). Why mess up the clean lines of car with stripes other than to say 'hey look at me'. Give me the look of the F6 over the GT any day.

There was a Monaro at the Holden dealer in Dandenong a few weeks back. It was yellow and had the exact same stripes as the GT's in black. Couldn't help but laugh.

I saw one like that as well. Maybe it's the same car. Not very original. Imagine if someone stuck a set of XW or XY GT stripes (complete with SuperRoo logos) on an old-school Monaro. This is basically the equivalent.
