hey guys. Im just having trouble with the stereo in a AUII Futura i just brought. I just got it from a car yard and the radio is showing ERR. Its a 1 owner and i contacted the previous owner and got the code off them and they insisted its still the orriginal radio in it. But when you are prompted to enter the code it comes up error. I went to Ford and they confirmed i had the right security code but it still wont work. Anyone else had this happen before or know where i can get another affordable Stereo system from?
Thanks guys Dave |

I have a spare AU2 radio/CD deck (with code) guaranteed to work. $50 (plus postage) and it's all yours.
Now, having said that, I remember someone else having problems entering the code and it came down to them not pressing one button hard enough. Also, you may have to leave the radio on for an extended period of time before the Err code will go away. It's part of the anti-theft feature of the unit. I think after you enter an incorrect code, you have to wait 2 minutes, then 5, then 15 then an hour and so on. Might be worth disconnecting the car battery and leave it off for 10 minutes, then reconnect and see if that makes any difference (not that I think it would, but worth a shot, and it costs nothing to do!).

JC,
You are correct. I had this very problem just over a week ago. I got some good oil from someone on the forum. Here's what to do. Leave the car on accessories for long enough for the "err" message to change to "code." Then enter the 4 digit code. Too easy. I'm not sure how long is needed as I was at my brother in law's when I left the car in the drive! Just make sure its safe as the keys are in the ignition! Perhaps park the second car (if you have one) right behind it. GK |

Did the dealer remove the audio unit & record the serial number or did they use the VIN number from the car when retrieving the code?

I beleive that if you enter the wrong code 3 times it shows err and locks you out. There also may be something wrong with the radio.I think JC is doing you a good favour I would get his and not worry with the dealers.
