Thought this may be an interesting read:

The grange is certainly one of the 'dark sides' better cars

yep. have always had respect for the Grange.
Ford should listen to those that want luxury performance from a LWB.
(id take either car if offered)

I think the grange is an awesome looking car, especially the newer models. I think there is a FPV Fairlane that will join the lineup in the near future.

I would like to see an FPV Fairlane. The article gave the TL50 4 stars out of 5 and the Grange 3.5 stars out of 5. There close but I still prefer the TL50.

I don't think the number built exceeded 100. Complete and total model failure for Ford. Had a purple leather interior from memory - at least the one I sat in.

Purple??? I think you are referring to the REDLINE Leather???

When it fades it does seem to go a reddish purple!!! Lol... but still looks great!

I would take a TL50 over a Grange any day!!! Though if I got offered one I would still Take the chance to drive it...
:P:P

Must get some pics of my baby for this site for people to refer too...

P.s the article did refer to an AU1 TL50... The series 2 are much better

PP.S The brakes I don’t find a problem unless you are stopping from speeds in excess of over 180 KM/H... but I don’t get there much!!! :

Cheers Rick

The colour was/is known as Aubergine. The TL50, in all three series, was available in either Aubergine, or Charcoal leather interior. Buyer to choose colour when placing an order. The TL50 never had the option of the Vivid Red/Black, or the Vibrant Blue/Black leather interior offered to the T2 and T3 TE/TS50.

Production numbers for TL50:

T1 TL50 = 43 (5.0 - 200kW)
T2 TL50 = 12 (5.0 - 220kW)
T3 TL50 = 3 (5.6 - 250kW)

I'd love to see Aubergine make a come back... hopefully FPV will do their own Fairmont Ghia (not like the extrovert GT-P, but more Senator-ish) with the leather. It was lovely.

TL50 has to be one of the hottest cars to come out of ford and one of my all time favourites (ive only ever seen a couple). It Was truly a sophisticated car for it's time.

With Ford without a Grange competitor (unless they decide to build the galaxie), the grange rules the roost. You gotta admit LS2 + LWB does equal a nice car.

TL-Fiddy was baddass and pimped-it was the bomb. Id take one over a Grange eight days of the week.
The Grange's are nice tho, particulary the VY/Z ones.
The TL reeked of boxy/chunky/luxo bargeness-That's the sh!t!

Only 3 T3 TL50's were built that had the 5.6L V8... Such a shame
