Default Carsguide says new falcon released next week

See Quote below from Carsguide website,

Newcomers to drive record sales
Paul Gover and Gavin McGrath
12aug05

Quote:
AUGUST

IT'S news whenever the model letters change on a new Falcon.

But with BA Falcon sales running out of puff, the next series – to be revealed next week – is a much-needed arrival.

Few details of the facelift are available yet, though a European-sourced six-speed automatic for the V8, turbo and luxury cars is likely.

Even the letter designation remains a mystery for the car, which goes on sale in late October, though we know it won't be BA Mk III.

I would be surprised it would be annonced this early even if sales are slowing. If the MkIII ( or whatever) is considerably different to the MKII then they will delay it's announcement and details till the last possible moment even though sales may be slowing. If the difference is significant, then it will kill any new sales when it is announced and they will have to provide large financial bonusses to shift MKII stock. Slowing sales before a significant new model is not necessarily a bad thing. Particularly if they manage stock. YOu can still pick up a 2004 model Falcon or Holden brand new if you look around, and at a real cheap price. It's a very delicate ballancing act on how they do this to keep vehicles moving. Hope it's not called the MK III that will probably increase the resale value of my BAII.

I would not be suprised if it rolls in early. Just about everyone in the world knows of the new falcon and most of the changes in it. The ZF auto could have been put in BA II but it wasn't (because it was still selling).

The new model only really affects upper crust models (XR6T and above). XR6T will always sell well, superceded or not. The only model that will get hurt is the Ghia, and well frankly its not selling at all anyway (except fleets who will most likely just goble up the stock anyway).

Ford has been in slow runout for a while. leather seats, free options, discounts. These have warn out. Not to mention BTR/Ion has finally exploded. If they don't start putting in the 6 speeders soon they won't have any transmissions left anyway.

ION Albury is in no danger of closing, I believe they still have a contract to supply Ford until 2007, it was the other divisions of ION that were in trouble, so supply for the 4 speed auto is not an issue.

Thats right. I dont think Ford are in a situation where they're running out of parts at all, if they were you would most likely see a decline in vehicle production and that's not the case.

Dare say its actually a typo?

Whatever the changes are you can bet they will be largely cosmetic.

They still will have their head up their **** about the underlying design faults (e.g. brake shudder) or the fact that it weighs about 250kg to much.

Ford never seam willing to admit what is limiting it in the market.

Perhaps because finally in Australia the large car segment is potentially a shrinking segment?

Brake shudder was fixed in November 2003. All cars built after that date had a revised calliper setup and I haven't heard of any vehicles built after this date having any brake shudder problems.

Bugger. That means potentially my BA may have the shudder, though up to now I haven't noticed it....all fingers crossed I won't have to experience this....

Matto...

Dealers will not know about this until Ford release the car...

Dealers are given very little information and sales staff usually know nothing till stock arrives and deliveries start.

Hi Shockwave, _2:
Rang my dealer and sussed him out again and he did reveal he 'only found out an hr ago' at the time. I believe him now. Just didn't realise the sales people aren't in the "know-how" of what goes on. You'd think they would be. I spose its to keep thing under wraps longer.

Maybe ford sales people should start logging on to this site more.

They still have my sale when the BF arrives :eclipsee_ , I jumped the gun!! :

Hey Matto, when i picked up my ute back in late june, the salesman conceded that the state manager had recently visited sites with some info on the new cars that only the manager was privy to, he didn't even know anything. I wouldn't go running off to another dealer because of that.

You will probably find that they only release information regarding what the new model will contain. They won't actually be in the showrooms until October.

Any News or Rumors as to Power Gain on XR8's Boss 275Kw - 280Kw?

All the non-sports models are getting around 10Kw so the Sports ones must get 10 to 15?
