Default XR6 Suspension coils into Forte

Hi All
I am able to get some AU XR6 suspension coils for my Forte. I assume this is a pretty straighforward swap. Can anyone please advice of any matters I have to consider when doing this job. Should I also try and get an xr6 sway bar, replace bushes ? Any ideas or hints will be greatly appreciated.

Front coils? Not a problem. I have series 2 XR8 coils in my Forte - dropped it about 25mm. I have also swapped shocks and coils between an AU1 and AU2 - no difference really except that AU2s have a bracket on the shock to hold the brake line.

Swapping the coils is a straight forward job. But a 18mm sockets required for removing the front upper ball jiont nut.So as to remove the front strut.
The coils on the front are the same but the VCT XR6's had the IRS rear end not the watts link which are a different coil.

I've got XR6 live axle suspension for sale...Did about 40k on it.

You'll just need the front camber re-adjusted otherwise she'll be sweet. Just remember that your shocks may wear out quicker due to faster deflection rate of standard items

Thanks t2te50, I may as well replace the shocks as they are OE with 90k on them. I guess they have passed their used by date.

The stock rear springs on the XR6 HP are the same as the Forte.

I thought they would have been different- height and perhaps stiffness. Does'nt the XR6 sit lower than a base forte? If it does how is the lower ride height obtained with the same springs (sorry I am not that mechanically knowledgeable). rweason I ask is that all i want to do is lower my Forte a tad and thought putting in XR6 coils front and back would do the trick.

The XR6 springs are lower - what Dark Horse means is that the fitment is the same (ie both live axle rear end, as opposed to leaf springs in wagons/utes and IRS in XR6VCT and XR8 and Fairmont Ghia).

Thanks JCXR8, All clear now.

Can anyone recommend what medium level shocks to buy? I am not a hard driver yet do enjoy something above stock.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
