Default VIVA The New Holden Ad!

Is it just me, or is this new Holden ad absolutely terrible? It is an ad for their new small car, Viva, with crowds of people surrounding this boring and dated looking small car, chanting things like "Viva the fuel economy!" and "viva the 21 storage spaces!" and with thousands of people cheering.

Holden usually do well with their advertising but this one is just repulsive and I want to hurl every time I see it!

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the ad?

Jac

I didnt even know they said that, it makes very little sense, and is hardly inspiring to make you want to buy one, I didnt even know the new car is called VIVA .... lol (though it was an astra still)

If the main reason for advertising is to get point accross, then I think they failed.

My question is why would they release this car when they have two others (Barina, Astra) that look around the same size and probably have the same sort of mumbo?

Barina is going replaced by a badged KALOS/Barina. Astra Classic is going, replaced by the LACETTI/Viva. Holden selling DAEWOO's as Holdens, gotta love it!!!! At least Fiesta and Focus are FORDS.

With all these corny 'viva the revolution' ads, youd swear the car came from North Korea not South. Nowing Daewoo's quality, it probably feels like it came from North Korea.

Holden promoting the car as the skoda of the 21st century is not really a good idea and it cheapons the brand. Ford has really got them here, Fiesta and Focus vs a slightly cheaper but vastly inferior (probably with poor resale) Barina and Viva.

The trouble is Holden are advertising everything. Apart from the Focus, I can't picture any other Ford ads. My mate from FPV watched Bathurst with me, and just shook his head at each ad break for the Holden Commodore SSV. No Ford presence at all.

Havent seen the add yet, but im sure it has a target audience - which does not include car enthusiasts like the ones here - the viva was never meant to blow you away - and by the sounds of it the add doesnt either.
The adds targeting 'US' would be more the monaro adds, SSZ adds, even the Storm adds.

Need i remind you of the 'You would be popular too' adds where a guy in a blue jacket is swamped by tourists. That is kind of lame too. Ford need an add to match the 'gen 3 adds'. People may be converted if there was as much exposure to a Typhoon add, hell even an xr8 add, but they arent exactly common. As henry said, Ford would do better if they stopped advertising their sales staff and introducing their FPV range and give them a mean sort of edge.

I agree - the salesman ads are lame at best, the ads for the performance models are basically non-existent. How are Ford/FPV going to convert new customers to the XR6T/Typhoon (who wouldnt even think of buying a Ford) if they dont advertise the damn things!

Edit - Oh and the VIVA ad is terrible, dont they also say something at the end like "Holden Viva is class leading" or words to that effect - false advertising if they havnt actually won any awards or outsold anyone i think
