What is it with Americans and these ugly azzed monster grilles?

Can you imagine how tedious it would be removing all the suicide bugs from the fly screen on the front of that thing after a night time Sydney/Melbourne run!

Not a fan of the big ole cabbage patch headlamps either!

But if you lost those massive globs of distorted glass and grafted in a BA/BF style headlamp assemblies, squared up the bonnet to match, it could look a bit less "boys own book of automotive tragedies " and more like what would be a good looking Falcon.

Looks very similar to the new american sedans which are called the 500. They are pretty big in the flesh too, powered by v6 or v8 engines. Apparently the 500 uses the global platform on which the next falcon is to be based. Overall, they are a real nice looking car. Here's a link. http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/F...red/Photos.htm

Front guards look different and there's rear quarter glass in the 500, but the doors, roofline, mirrors etc look pretty similar. Could be a facelifted model for the sports end of their market.

The Fusion is a midsized competitor based on the Mazda6 platform. Currently it is only front wheel drive with either the choice of 2.3L 4cyl or 3L V6 engines.

It is not indication on how the next Falcon will look like - you need to look towards Europe for that.

Congrats casper, I was way off with that one.

On another point though, A ford guy I spoke to in the USA did say that the 500 is built on Ford's global platform, and it also comes with optional AWD. So a question I would like to pose is are ford oz going to employ the global platform or are they going to continue their own developments.

The fusion looks great! The 500 car though aint so nice.

Only thing wrong with the fusion is that grille. Its way too big and makes it look like a f series truck.

probably better comparing it to the Astra's and the likes, thats its competition. You know that Astra? That horrendous ugly thing Holden sells?

Not a fan of the astra either....forget my friggen nametag etc for a moment with the cheap shots....this thing is still ugly, the front end is awful, i just think the BA and BF design runs rings around it and was sort of thinking that a similar design structure would go into their other cars, but this looks like a modified magna!

I reakon it looks good. Normally not a fan of those type of headlights but it looks good. Would stick with the XR, as I'm not a fan of small or midsized cars.
