When somebody gets a Dyno Power run done and it is above the average HP figure for that model of engine, people say to get it dyno'ed somewhere else. Then when they do and it comes up with a lower HP reading they quote that as there car's HP figure.
But when they take it to the track and run a certain ET and MPH, and then go to a different track and run a faster ET and a quicker MPH they quote the BETTER timeslip as there cars potential. Why wouldn't you quote the highest HP reading from the dyno ???? Since you quote the BETTER timeslip. LUKE

Because a run at the strip is real - it just happens and the result is beyond question. Your best time is clearly what the car can do/has done, no distortion.
Dynos can be configured to show anything. |

Chassis dyno's are one the most innacurate pieces of measurement technology.
Basically, what power you "make at the wheels" means diddly squat. I can make a dyno show that my 63kW Econovan makes 600kW at the wheels. Then there is constant variability with things like atmospheric conditions, traction etc etc. The results can very wildly. I've seen cars dyno 295rwhp, then run again and get 375rwhp 5 min later on the same dyno. RWHP is a stupid "who's dick is bigger" ИИИИing contest with no real way to actually measure who's really is bigger... If you want to know what the car/engine really does... take it to a race track. They can be excellent tools for tuning an engine, but for bragging rights, or true indications of performance and power... best look elsewhere. (NB - The above statement is my opinion only. It need not match other people's, nor is it expected to.)

The problem with track times is there are variables with these too:
Temperature Track "stickiness" Altitude Condition of tyres at time :P Driver error/skill And... how much crap you pull out of the car before racing. Having said that I'm not putting the Dyno on a pedestal above track times :sm_headba |
