Default August 2006 new car sales

I am keen to see the following:

How many Commodores were sold with the release of the VE - would be a few
How many new Camrys were sold - I suspect heaps
How much impact the above two had on Falcon sales and what percentage are Egas equipped
How few Mitsubishi 380s were sold.

FF

I have seen 3 VE Commodores in the last month. I SS V, and two Executives.

I also suspect there would be alot of VE Commodores registered as dealer demos as well.

I reckon it's gonna be a bad month for Ford.

Considering sales of VE didn't officially start until mid month do you think it would have big sales for the whole month, plus the factory is only now reported to be nearing max capacity (Drive: http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Ar...eID=19717&vf=2 )having started at about 100-160/day and we are in the last days of august Plus VZ sales would mix in there aswell unless vfacts can break it down or Holden give it out .

We've sold all bar 2 Camry's allocated to us for this month, and a few out of supply for next month.

Saw 4 VE's in one day last week.

1 was parked at uni, and had quite a few students gorking at it. Personally i dont get why, but still.

380's are becoming popular ,as is the new Camry, but I live in an area with numerous Older people.

It's not all smiles at Holden Dealers with the arrival of VE...It certainly hasn't taken off at the levels that other models have....I know of 2 dealers that only managed 6 and 10 VE sales last week respectively, well below expectations...

But never fear, the 'registration' of demo vehicles will get their numbers up in August / September....they just won't necessarily be sales...

Will be VERY interested to see when the first Special Value pack comes out....that'll be the first sign that sales aren't as healthy as desired, though I'm sure the headline would read

"Holden provides even more value - As part of it's planned VE launch program, Holden today launched 10 special value packs for it's VE commodore range...."

Its already planned.

I read in one of teh blatherings at launch time that theres a "special value pack" aimed at the private buyer to go on sale in a couple of months.
I cant remmeber what it was going to be called tho (perhaps Omega V)
Sort of SR thing, based on omega with air, alloys, full spare and a few niceties for a few bucks more.

Hmm, it won't be interesting in the slightest!

Holden Announced with the launch of the VE that production of a special "Launch" edition car, called the Commodore V would start this month.

Same thing i was talking to a wholesaler at one of the biggest Holden Dealers in QLD and his comments were it hasnt taken off at all, theres more enquiry for runout VZ models then there is for VE. It seems as though the private market is very price driven at the moment, and considering you can buy a VZ Calais $41,000 a VE Omega isnt cheap at $37,000

As for fleet orders AUGUST isnt a big month usually!

news.com.au

SALES of cars and trucks dipped 5.2 per cent in August, according to the latest figures from the automotive industry.

In its VFACTS report today, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) said 81,661 new vehicles were sold last month compared with 86,177 sold in the corresponding month last year.

That took demand for the year to 642,383 vehicles, a fall of 3.4 per cent.

Toyota was clearly the top selling company in August with 18,585 vehicles ahead of Holden (11,819) and Ford (10,323).

The Holden Commodore was Australia's top selling car with 4986 sold during August.

4986

Thats not a huge month considering they are giving away VZs and they should have sold most of the first batch of VEs!

I understand that VFacts sales is based on vehicle registrations, which means that every demo car counts even though not a "sale" to the public as such. So in August there would have to have been what at least 2 demos (probably more) registered for each Holden Dealership....make that 600+ demos across Aust....and you're looking at a pretty unimpressive sales number.

Not to mention all the Holden Rep cars in SA.

Id say the Demo number would be closer to 1000 units as most dealers have up to 6 demos.

Of course they do. How do you think they demonstrate their cars?
In NZ most of the large Lease companies drive BF's as their company cars but I hear they are mostly changing to VE.

Total fords sold were 10323 so I doubt Falcon sales will be too high.
