I heard he drove it straight from the showroom floor to that very spot. Very rare too as the shaker is mounted underneath the car. But apparently the plates don't match up anymore as he put a V10 in it.

Got a mate who is trying to get an xy gt from a farmer at the moment he wont tell me much about it. They found it in a shed covered in dust and its been parked for years dont know if its real or not hes being real quite about it . When he told me he was thinking of buying it I said I would and told him how much real ones are worth this made him interested . I should have said lets go and have a look and see if its worth buying and brought it myself.

Ones like that, are the best IMO. As far away from salt water as possible should keep the rust out.

Go back, you might pick it up cheap

A workmate did go and grab something in this situation, only 2 weeks ago.

He did about a 1600km round trip to pick up a 1955-60 split windscreen Kombi... needs a LOT of work, but it only cost him a case of red wine, trailer hire and fuel.

He's ecstatic... also a VW freak!

Ps... there was an XP ute there, as well...

Nothing else interesting out there. An old bloke owns it, would definitely notice it was gone. Rusted out in doors and quarters. Good bonnet, tailgate, perfect grill and some good chrome. Will try to investigate further.

me and a couple of mates had a good find once.

we had heard of an old FJ ute in the scrub and went for a look (one of the mates was doing up a FJ)
found 2 x FJ utes, and a `56 chevy sedan as well as about a dozen other old wrecks that didnt really interest us much at the time. i remember a few FC holdens, some austins, etc.

we went to see the people at the nearest house and they told us that the owners of the property had walked away about 15 years before and were never heard of again, they run their cows on the old farm and said tha we could help ourselves to any of the old cars. recond most of the good ones had already been taken over the years.

next weekend we picked up the 2 utes and the chevy.
i had ideas of doing up the chev but another guy we knew heard about it and talked us into selling it to him for what it had cost us to pick it up . then like a lot of projects it got put on hold and he sold it to someone in canberra who apparently did a full restoration on it.

another time i picked up a `36 chrysler from another farm because the new owners were cleaning up and it was to go to the tip.
i had just got it home about 20 minutes and had a phone call from a guy who had seen it on the trailer and wanted to buy it. he had been searching fo one the same for years .

even though i havent used any of these old relics or made any money from them , its good to know that they were saved from a certain death by destruction.

Get it dammit!
I have mates who do this all weekend, driving around farms, looking for old cars. One likes wagons, the other utes, and mostly all holdens... But there is nice red 351 manual XD wagon that is going for a $100...
