Default I need grunt help me!!!!

im a new commer to this site and the whole car scence, so i dont know how everything works yet. im getting my p's in a month and my mums AUII falcon forte, it looks nice i already lowerd it and put rims and a fully sick sound system but i cant stand the way the engine sounds so i thought about fitting a full exhaust system from headers to tip. i thought i would chek with proffessional ford enthusiasts if that would be a good idea to increas the grunt and if its possible to have a twin exhaust system with each exhaust on opposite sides of the car like the 300ZX style. if it is possible were do i go to have it fitted in the western suburbas of melb!!! Thanx for any help

can't do a twin exhaust on an au i6 without moving the fuel tank as it sits on the far left of the rear bumper, you can however go up to a 3 inch exhaust, with extractors, however this is very loud, a couple of the other people on here have them so they can tell you more, oh by the way, welcome to the forums

Welcome to the forums mate!

Most people seem to be happy with a single 2.5" redback or lukey (or similar) system which can go into a nice twin tip. If you're prepared to spend the folding, a full twin system with twin tips on one side is pretty cool. But unless you've got a bodykit, the dual outlets might look a little out of place. Blending in is useful when you're first on your p's. Thats one reason why i didn't get the XR till i was on my blacks. It doesn't take much to get a nice note out of the I6.

Welcome mate, you will find alot of knowledge here.

Have a read of this for a start on your exhaust. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=69146

But it seems the first mod you would want to do is a set of Extractors (maybe pacemaker or a well known brand) with a 2 and 1/2" or 3" Inch exhaust, depending on how loud you want to go. A 2 and 1/2" Inch with a single muffler tends to be the most popular.

From memory this should give you around 10 - 15RWKW more.

does a 3 inch zorst, make the crap flow better, making it less kw and crappy sound..? i though 3 inch was really only if u had a turbo?

^^that's what i was also told by the local exhaust shop, but the few there are on here haven't had any problems, apart from it being very loud at WOT

Considering he's about to get his P's I think an 8 will attract a bit too much attention from local plod. The sixes still sound tough enough with an exhaust and have plenty of go.

The 6's go just aswell as most 8's and will even knock off a few.
You can make a 2.5in just asloud as a 3inch, or a 3inch just as quiet as a 2.5in exhaust system, its just mufflers.
Extractors, 2.5 or 3inch exhaust, intake, edit and a cam will make big power gains, to get it moving a 3000rpm stall converter and 3.9 diff gears will give it alot of punch off the line if you get traction.

the v8 idea isnt bad but i cant even afford my own car im taking my mums how am i supposed to afford a v8 or let alone pay for petrol with an 8. thanx alot i appriciate ur help

thats what i thought of at the start of the year when i started working i realy wanted to buy a vs executive, but i knew i was gona get the ford so i thought it would be a stupid idea to buy a 98 model car when i can have a 2000 model for free and spend the money i make on making the car the way i like it

If I was you, being your young age, I would'nt really modify my car too much until I got a steady job, saved money for a future home(renting) and finished school. Then start modifying my car...
