Ok, parts gophers... i have a mission.
I need a rocker gasket for an au2 VCT motor... its urgent. I pulled off the rocker to have a tinker, and the gasket has stretched! :S Ford charge $70, thats a fair way over the top.... i could even handle 50 bucks... Repco and supercheap are useless... They have nothing for VCT... They dont even list a freaken oil filter (which everyone knows is z9) Maybe an acl part number, or somewhere aftermarket to get one?? |

Ford would be it. You can reuse the old one by fitting it carefully, or stick it in the freezer to shrink it a bit then fit it.

they all seem stretched but just use vasoline or grease to hold it in there and then fit
the rocker cover back on. a brand new one wont be that much smaller

i packed it in, but it leaks...
Looks like ford really is my friend on this one... I'll try the freezer trick tonight... I'm freaken spewing, the whole back half of my car is covered in oil after coming back from the gold coast... :S Not to mention the underside! Mind you, after rally driving down some dirt roads south of Kew (nth of Taree) to avoid the acco on friday night made the car a whole lot dirtier than the oil... It's kinda feral :P Thanks for the help guys! |

Did you use gasket goo? When I took mine off to change rocker covers it seemed to be stretched heaps, I discovered this after I'd gasket goo'd the whole gasket channel on the cover and pushed most of the gasket in. After much time spent cleaning up all the goo I put gasket goo in the channel, placed the gasket sitting over the channel, carefully pushed it in, doing places where it needed to line up (i.e. corners & bends) and then pushing it in everywhere else. It's a matter of getting it in as best you can, whilst sort of trying to compress it as you go. Got it all in, put a smear of gasket goo along the gasket and re-fitted it. I'd say it would've seemed stretched AT LEAST an inch, and it hasn't leaked a drop of oil since I did it a couple of months ago now. Patience was the key (and maybe gasket goo). Good luck with it.
