Gday. I am considering putting a 302 into a MK2 escort and i was just wondering if this would be possible without cutting the firewall. Otherwise what other options do I have? Bear in mind im not made of cash lol.
Cheers.

It SHOULD fit but i would be more worried about getting it registered if its a road car and all the cost of getting an engineers certificate. You will have to change EVERYTHING....... Upgrade all Brakes, diff, suspension.......
Here's a link that might help you http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/top...?TOPIC_ID=9981 Cheers, Aussie_Escort |

being a mk2 and later than 1974 it would have to comply the adr 27a at least
so there would be many restrictions imposed but there is a green blown mk2 that is a regular at the summernets running a cleveland thats 'meant' to legal md conversions i think in nsw as for the firewall no it will have to be enlarged. |

cool. im lucky because my uncle is an engineering signatory. so no probs there. diff and brakes are no prob either ive just been pondering this a while cause i have the mk2 with an 2 litre thats shorn away the flywheel bolts.
i just got the 302 out of the side shed and measured it up. yeah itll need a firewall cut. But other than that what else could i transplant into it in terms of ease of conversion, least hassle etc?

Hey there.
I don't know much about modification, but there is an escort here in New Zealand with this done. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...43&key=1343638 I'm not sure about what regulations and rules are like to compared to over here, but as you can see, it is possible. Hope that's some help. |
