Default Look out another silly door unlocking question..

I was just wondering is there anyway i can get all the doors on my car to unlock with a single press? At the moment one press opens my door(drivers... like itd be any other ) another press will unlock the rest.

I have a friend who has a BA and he was saying something about it being an anti hijacking thing (cause ive heard of thousands of car jackings in australia... lol). Anyways he said something about being able to have the keys in the ignition and press the buttons to change the mode (anti hijacking on/off) does such a thing exist or am i going to have to learn to live with this crazy action?

Cheers,
Simo.

Can't remember off the top of my head ... it is in my owners manual though.
Something to do with the demister switch and holding the UNLOCK button.

All while tapping your head and rubbing your stomach as well.

But there is a procedure to change from single to 2-stage locking.

if i remember rightly, your tongue has to be tied in a knot, left hand rubbing your head, left foot out, shacking all about, you do the hockie pokie and turn about press the red button and then start the car and press the lock button....i think

I discovered the same pain in the ar$e setup with my wagon till I realised that if you just keep the button pressed down the second stage will activate a second after the first and all your doors will be unlocked so just hold the button down till you see the lights flash the second time and you're all open. The thing that is really annoying for me and is turning into a pet hate for the missus is no door latch on the tailgate of the wagon so you are forced to use the remote(keyring or dash) or the key. We both preferred the old EL setup.

To switch modes, just press and hold the unlock and lock buttons at the same time, until the indicators flash. If it was set to one door, it will now open all. If it was all, it will toggle back to one.

Hey there apoc, my way will get the job done but JCs' way is MUCH better. Thanks JC, that works a treat and the missus is a much happier camper for it. Now if only I could find a way to get the tailgate fitted with a latch handle I'd earn enough brownie points to get freebies for a month : :voldar02:

Hey peoples,

I used JC's method for changing the mode and can also confirm that it works
you have to hold down the buttons for some time before it works. Took me a few goes but is repeatable once you get the knack. My lights flashed then keep on holding.... and flash again and it was done.

Im stoked, now when i get in the car with a passenger I dont unlock my door, get in, realise that i should have pressed the button twice, passenger looks at me through the window, im like yep i know, so i press the button on the dash, passenger has a go at the handle, i press the button again as was necessary to get the door unlocked, passenger screws it up by holding the handle up, i mime wait a fn second through the window press button twice passenger gets in... mmmmaaaaannnn how did getting in the car become so complicated

Its all good now though, cheers JC,
Simo.

Good question. I don't think so. I think the AU1 s are just set to open all, but then I've never tried it.

Good thing is that you can have one remote that has 2 stage unlocking and the other set as single stage

There is no way. You need the remote. Have you checked the battery?

i have checked the battery. When i first got the car the unlock button didn't work all the time but the lock one did. Then i took it apart and blew out the dust and then put it back together and sealed it, then it was opposite; unlock good, lock no good. Now neither work.

your best bet would be to get a remote off ebay

Just tried, and it does not work for AU1 - must be AU2/3 only.

i can not for the ******* life of me get it to switch from drivers unlock to all unlock!?!?!?!

boy have i tried

first when i attempted it it kept setting off my aftermarket immobiliser thing and all the sirens start going........so i gave up that day

tried again today, first though turning the immobiliser off completely with the key in the engine bay job, and still no luck. Hold both lock and unlock down, indicators go flash crazy for a little bit and then nothing - for ages - and after all that, no change in the unlock situation........

my next attempt will be to tell people im not taking passengers unless i have at least 10 minutes notice to get all the doors unlocked
