All-New Full-Size Crossover
On Sale Next Year: The 2009 Ford Flex goes on sale in the summer of 2008, joining the Edge and Taurus X in Ford’s popular crossover lineup. A very unusual square box vehicle, I would like to know why Europe is going the ‘Kinetic’ way and the US is going astonishing weird… http://media.ford.com/products/press_article_display.cfm?article_id=25820&vehicle _id=1564&make_id=92&CFID=9546281&CFTOKEN=1e4768d93 365743d-6C121C71-1185-6933-5DE57FAC37EA2517&jsessionid=58302a575e53G$838$C6

I'm glad they're still not calling it the Fairlane. Flex is a weird name (maybe it suffers from a bit of body flex) but at least they aren't bringing back a name of historical importance (This is America, so they haven't had Fairlanes since about 1970) and slapping the badge on something completely different.

That style of vehicle is popular in the US - there is a Toyota brand I can't name at the moment, a Honda SUV and even the Hummer H2/H3 are shaped like that. Why you would want to drive something boxier than a Volvo 740 is another question
