Default Standard Cam back in Not 100%, I need some answers

The car is pretty much back to factory, , idle normal, no noisy lifter. But i had it in 2nd before and held it at 4000rpm and theres a mad vibrating noise pulsing like, the car has no performance really, i was thinking the fuel filter is blocked up or maybe a injector is fouled. I dont know.
The Crow cam is sitting in the shed! I think it needed a chip or maybe it was my car cos the thing refused to run spot on.

having the cam advanced 3* would bring max power back down to mid to low 4000rpm mark.
dose it feel like its hitting the limiter ,or does it feel like its just running out puff?

yeah theres like a mad pulsing noise going off like a machine gun flat out, it doesnt carry on it wont rev past 4k and its hitting limiter, it does it at idle as well. I mean if your stationery and rev it it wont go past 4k. well i'll be putting the cam into 0 degrees problyy tommorow night.

How long did you have the performance cam in the car? Was it running rich/lean/like crap generally? Did you rev the crap out of it, trying to get it to run nicely?
I've seen BA's and AU's that have experienced prolonged poor mixture conditions (either driving for long periods/hard running with vacuum leaks/exhaust manifold leaks and overpressurised fuel rails) that have made enough unburnt fuel go into the catalytic converter, burn internally and MELT the honeycomb catalyst in the BASTARD.
Even after fixing the original cause of the engine problem (manifold gaskets/loose exhaust manifold and blocked fuel pressure regulator, respectively (4 different cars)), found YOUR problem: flat out at 3000-4000rpm, noise like extreme pinging/rattling and no go.
Pull the engine pipe off the car and shake out the cat. Shine a torch in. If molten bits of honeycomb fall out, its stuffed. The melted catalyst blocks the exhaust flow and won't let the exhaust gas out of the motor - instant rev limiter. You'll need a new one, it will be EPA illegal without it.

you were the one who bent your valves from that cam hey.. maybe something still isn't right... rockers aren't torqued down evenly or the rocker shaft is twisted/bent?? did everything get replaced

Is this sorted? Can you describe the sound a bit more vividly? Does it sound like metal hitting at 4000 rpm?

cam postion shouldnt have much to do with the engine feeling like its hitting a limiter at 4000rpm unless pistons are kissing valves. but you would know that by now if it was that. i would assume valve float would do this but being new valve springs, i doubt they would bugger up so quickly.

could it be something to do with a knock sensor? crank angle sensor?? even something to with harmonic balancer? as that has a lot to do with ignition.

i want someone to explain how cam position stopped the car revving past 4g? seems odd, as ppl advance cams all the time and it doesnt affect limiter....
