Default IRS top shock mounts...DONE!!!

Well I finally got mine replaced today. $88 each from Ford and I paid $99 for them to be put in because I'm lazy and it needed a wheel alignment anyway. The difference in the rear end is amazing though, so much tighter and feels a lot better through corners. To all you out there with IRS make sure you check them as mine were absolutely knackered after 100k.

Mine were gone in my xr8 they looked shagged all torn and rooted. It made a bang and knocking sound over bumps and everything. Apparently its a known problem according to the guys at pedders but you can only get the parts from ford. I agree with redxr347 it makes a huge differance in the ride and performance of the suspension

could this be the cause of my clunking in the rear at low speed? or is it in fact the diff as first thought?

how to check?

Inspect via the back seat, fold down and remove the corner cover, you will see the strut and plate, get someone to bounce the rear while you check that the strut chrome rod is moving up and excessively, that will explain your knock for sure.
My XR8 over stutter bumps would knock like mad.

ok will check it out

doesnt make the noise during normal driving, only at low speed, say when the clutch is depressed or foot off the accelerator and there is no load on the driveline
