I can't possibly see how they could legislate against tow bars, they are such an essential item for so many, about 40% of cars in Australia have tow bars. How can they decide wether it's essential or not.

How can someone be injured by a tow bar? The only injuries I ever seen are when I hit my shin on the tow bar getting stuff out of the boot.

so that means those knives i was going to weld to my rims to pop the tires of my rival race as i drive off snickering will be illegal? damn... has he considered walking a little further away from cars? : and what the hell is that bit about demerit points for bullbars? because people who live in rural areas and 4WD enthusiast should have some sort of demerit point revoked because they would prefer to save damage to their car from a roo or tree to save those poor poor people hitting their shins because they are not watching where they are going closely enough. its a bit of "angry mother syndrome" if you ask me...

That will be the complaint. Notice the pics in carparks etc. Why anyone walks that close to a car they arent getting to the boot of Ill never know.

The bike rack pics are funny. How do they know the people havent just rolled up, parked, and are off riding the bikes and are coming back to use the rack again? That is what they are for.

Not being a waterfront residing multi-millionaire, how does that moron expect I get my boat to the ramp nearest me? Push it? Get .

Anybody want to help me track this down and hurt him with my Towbar equipped Territory. Scruby needs to get a life.

For the record, I have the Heavy Duty HaymanReese 'bar, which has a hitch on it that can be taken out with the removal of a pin. I only have it on the car when I am towing.

i only keep mine on there incase i get rear ended!!!

this will never be passed! he's dreaming!!

As far as i know tow bars are already illegal if they are not in use.

How do i know? I was defected for it and had to get a RWC which they wouldnt give unless i removed the tow bar!
Vicroads concurred too.

I did see a small child ride head first into one once. Funny? Yes, yes it was. Potentially dangerous? Yes.

But seriously.. banning tow bars, I could lose a finger in between the spokes on my wheels when the car is moving.. its not going to happen, but lets ban mag wheels just in case.

And while we're at it, lets ban exhaust tips that become hot after the car has been driven.... again, seriously folks.

Did you have to remove the whole tow bar i.e, from the body or just the tongue cause i went for a rwc couple of weeks ago then into the pits for rego and i had mine fitted but no tongue as i removed it and no one said anything so i'm surprised you got defected for a tow bar must of been one angry copper

it has saved my car from rear end damage 3 times,

its not dangerous,
and its got bring orange relective tape on it,

and if that iddiot took photos of my car,
i would have my way with his website.

Thats what i was told I am supposed to do.

Just the tongue needed to be removed (for which i had to buy a big off wrench!), not a big job but annoying if i had to do it everyday.

If youre dumb enough to run into a towbar and complain about it you are going to die soon anyway!

In all fairness, the cop had it in for me as it was back in my P-plater days, I was in a ZL Fairlane that was overloaded (delivery run on the 1 day my trailer broke too!), and he said outright he was going to get me for something.

On the plus side, he managed to find my radar detector but couldnt find what to charge me with :-)
It was worth it just for his expression when he had to hand it back to me and admit defeat hehe.

It's long been considered by others in the industry the Pedestrian Council is no more than Scruby, his shadow and a fax machine. You have to apply to become a member and then be approved! However he's very good at selling his cause and for that reason when he sticks his ugly beak in papers often listen and quote him.

Whats wrong with the Falcon station wagon???

Also, I think a tow bar / ball is a no-no when any part of it is covering the number plate only?

I have a big ugly towbar on the back of mine, rarely used, the ball is rusty, never took it off for RWC and had no problem. The tongue does not come off, its custom made for a lot of weight.

The problem is idiots like screwbit make already stupid people dumber with the propaganda he spits out.

Look at the crap he went on with about the Typhoon. I would like to know who pays him and gave him the authority to set up a council anyway.

Whats stopping people on here setting up a car transport lobby group to counter this fruit loop.

I know we all need money to live but for sake he should go and do something constructive instead of finding ways to iritate taxed road users.
