Not really surprising, when you think about the fact that all of the cars nominated are better than the Holden offering in their respective classes. That said, usually it doesn't make a difference, to the motoring public because "Holdens Go Better".

Don'f forget that to be a chance for "best cars" your vehicle has to have been relised in the past 12mths. Don't know if Holden have done that.

Dont think so, most of the cars on that list are pretty old

Getz, Civic, Grandis, Golf R32, IS250 just to name a few. Only Wheel COTY has that last 12 months clause.

Yeah spot on, From Memory, the BA falcon won its category 3 years running or something

i'm mildly suprised the G6eT didnt make it to the luxury section considering the reviews it has won against cars like the Jaguar etc

I'm not sure, but I think they try and keep all of the nominees for the same category around the same price so that actual price itself doesn't come into play, I think it goes more along the lines of what you are getting for that amount of money, in this case, a hell of a lot more in the G6ET than in the Audi or Lexus.

Not so sure about that. Both the EVO and the BMW are $20k more than the R32 in the sports car category. If you then option up some of the things that come standard in the R32, add even more ontop of that.

To an earlier poster, the MKV R32 came out in 2006 so it's not necessarily cars released this year.

The G6ET is in the prestige category, not the luxury category (against the Audi A4 1.8T and Lexus IS250), and I would be more impressed if it won that than if the XT wins the large car category. The Mondeo would have to be a chance in the mid-size >$28k too

The Commodore wagon in the standard model, is heavier, slower, thirstier and has less rear luggage space than a BF Falcon wagon, why would it win any award?

As long as they have Holdens marketing, the perception of the car will still be Aussie and built in Australia.

And its only the twin tail pipes that look any good. Those tail lights together with the back end looks hideous.

Surely FG has got to win, certainly the standout model this year amongst everything else.

Accord will prob beat it, and lexus might beat the G6ET. (Remember Fords are just taxi's : )

Seem to remember a comparo between the accord and the FG, the FG had a similar fuel economy and was a better car (I think).

Well the falcon will give you quality issues, arguments with car service reps and techs over warranty items, and poor resale, Audi will give you an expensive options list, and Lexus won't give you any options at all (well maybe three), but they will wash your car for life.

Yeah I know that article. It was a close decision. Re-sale will be what loses it for Ford.

It seems to be selling alright. 1 in 4 Commodores sold is a sportswagon. It will be interesting if that keeps up.

On a side note, what is so sporty about an Omega wagon?
