Got a problem at work with a customers car... i was told to source a CAM sensor, yet i dont believe there was one... talked to one of my dealers and he told me that there is only a Crank Angle sensor... yet aftermerket say there is one available... yet its the same price by dumb luck as the Crank Angle Sensor... can anyone confirm this and maybe have a part number?
I know the Crank Angle Sensor for the 5.0ltr Windsor is 1L2Z6C351AA...

Cam sensor is the sensor that sits below the coil packs in the AU where the dist would usually live IIRC. Bloody expensive through FoA but real cheap from the US.
There was a thread in the T series room recently regarding this.

Ford call this part a "Synchroniser".
Part number - XL2Z 12A362 AA Genuine is pretty expensive... over $700 at retail.

swanee is correct if it is in fact the "camshaft synchroniser" and that is the correct part number. It goes in where the distributor would have been in the pre EFI windsors, when the bearing goes it makes a loud screeching noise.
Closer to $800 from Ford Aust but you can get one from www.rockauto.com for $43 US + Postage, about $75 landed at your front door at the current exchange rates. There is also a crankshaft position sensor which is different. It is down behind the crankshaft pully. |

Well the after market part number for the CAM sensor is CAS1315 from my local AutoOne...
But as i thought... it wasnt the CAM sensor... it was the Crank Angle... i told them so... and now they have to get one in... lol!
