prydey yes your said 600cc so that is what many 4x4 batteys are mine is 300cc and may one day if I get a chance I will try mine on a mates hilux


mine is a good quality $260 and as many say it you want quality them you pay for it

I appreciate your feed back my plan of attact is to leave it on charge all the time as recommended by the guy in RAA and the shop assistant and the information booklet

so I will keep it on charge at home and when it is in the car I can keep it charged there

from what I have read so far this is how to maintain them they have a built in system to stop over charging . now I have done this I will more than likly never end up using it

I had a 1969 ford and was driving from Perth to Adelaide in this time it was dirt from Eucla to Ceduna and the mecanic in perth said you need new water hoses and alternator belt ok so I bought them six years later sold the car did not replace any thing lol what a pain

Thanks prdey for the link. That one looks good, even down to the 12v recharging until I saw the 600cca which most of my trucks are at least 800cca twin battery setups.
Would be good for 4x4's though.
The largest truck I use is 1100cca twin 12v start 24v run but that's a 14ltr diesel.

When I had my own workshop I had all these sales reps showing me these jump starters that were the best thing since sliced bread.

So I bought a few.

I killed every single one of them.

The better one jump started a 70 series Land Cruiser, once.

We killed another jump starting my EF.

We also killed another two SUPPOSEDLY 2000A jump starters used by a local mine to jump start their earth moving equipment.

We made an example out of the sales rep, we had a KW prime mover sitting in the yard with flat batteries, 2000A will turn it over and start it no worries.

Hook up your jump start pack to it, he does.

I turn the key into start position.

The engine doesn't even get a full turn and the jump start pack flashes with an error code saying short circuit.

It killed the pack.

Sales rep goes that one wasn't fully charged.

OK no worries bring another next visit.

Next time he brings another new pack and made sure it was fully charged.

I make him hook it up to the KW in the yard again.

Engine doesn't even make a complete turn.

Jump start pack throws error code and its toasted.

He became the running joke at the office afterwards when I went into their branch they were asking me if I was interested in their jump start packs

Two old N120MF batteries, they're only 900 CCA each when they are new, they were taken out of trucks to be replaced.

Funnily enough it started that KW prime mover no issues?

If you want something decent, get yourself a set of the LV8152 leads from JAS Oceania:

They've got 70mm2 cable and heavy duty clamps, they're only about $200 a set and its cheaper than you can make them for with half the size cable.

Then get yourself a Deka Intimidator 9A34 or Optima D34 AGM battery and a smart charger.

Presto, instant jump start pack that will start a tractor.

Or if you want something cheaper change the AGM battery for a Century 67 EF MF, just don't leave it on the charger as its a lead acid battery.

Not very portable though is it?!

The unit i have will start any car or 4x4, petrol or diesel. It's lithium, so light, and can be carried about in your bout without taking up any space.

They are a convenience tool rather than a workshop jump starter.

Yeah its convenient, it'll work once then not anymore

You know how many times I've seen people with these lovely lithium you beut chargers say oh don't worry I have one of these!

Go to use it and it doesn't work and they've never used it before, its just sat around on charge 24/7

We've had the 'start anything' lithium ones, as I said my EF Falcon killed it and the 70 series Land Cruiser killed its replacement.

They all work - once.

Funny you say that as mine has worked consistently for 3+ years. It's jumped multiple falcons aswell as my patrol. And i still use it to charge my phone daily.

Good thing i dont have any mining rigs i need to start with it...

Would i try to start a prime mover with it? No.
Does it do everything i ask of it?

Looking to buy a decent, but not too expensive Heavy Duty Jump Starter.
I'm not opposed to the small lightweight Lithium ones, but reputable ones are very exxy, and buying cheapo ones off eBay is pointless.

Needs to be heavy duty, to start the Nissan Truck engine.
