Sprintey those buttless fags I hear you omg.
Imagine how many of those smoked back in the early days before butts. My Italian nonno smoked them and Gitanes forever and a day. My mum brought her parents here due to age in their 70’s. He had the typical nigatine fingers stains and all that - smoked all his life I guess was in the war died at 93 ! You can’t pick it. My mum was a 2packet a day Stuyvesant smoker till her late 50’s - got a bit of tongue cancer cut off, still with us 94 ! Unreal. Obviously having both parents smoke I was the one of 3 who took it up. Used to steal a few of hers, had smoked for 40yrs I suppose. Gave em up now 2yrs ago amongst some cones back in my surfing youth days as well. Can’t stand the smell when someone is near me. I don’t miss it now when on the food and drink. Good luck all of you who is looking to change - way too expensive might I add. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I gave up about 15 or 16 years ago, can't remember exactly when, but you could still smoke in pubs and clubs but they'd just introduced rule where you could not smoke within 1 metre of the bar (but weirdly they usually had exhaust fans above the bars that would draw all the smoke that way anyway). Might be longer than that, never marked the date.
Used to smoke between 8 and 9 packs of Longbeach 40s per week; a pack a day and then an extra pack or 2 across the weekend, depending on how long I was out drinking on a Friday and Saturday night. Buying then in a carton from a supermarket was just under $20 a pack; buying them from the servo was just short of $25. I'd hate to think how much I'd be paying now for 8-9 packs of 40s a week. |

Guys, can we get back to giving up smoking, rather than pricing up wacky tobacco, which is not legal in a quite a few states?

I used Allen Carr's book "Easy Guide to Giving Up Smoking", though don't read it if you are not really ready to quit.
One of the bits I remember from it was where he asked something like what would you do if you pulled out a cigarette and it had a warning that this was the smoke that was going to give you cancer and kill you - would you still smoke it? Not those exact words but something like it. Of course you'll never get that warning, but if you keep smoking you'll one day smoke that one too many. Weird thing is I can't remember the rest of that bit, but it was one of the many bits in that book that got through to me and had me go cold turkey after smoking 8-9 packs of 40s per week for nearly 20 years. |

I decided on a date, 1st of Feb so it wasn't a failed New Year Resolution. I used nicotine patches as per their instructions, downgrading the strength every few weeks. That was 18 years ago. I can buy more crap now.
My father had a double bypass at age 42, and I have his genes, he gave up smoking at that time, so I did before I got to that age. Now Dad is in hospital with strokes, heart events and dementia, so I guess I've got that years down the track.
