my 75,000 service cost me 30 bucks in oil, 20 bucks in filters, 40 bucks in coolant, 40 bucks in two new radiator hoses. I tried to charge myself labour but I refused to pay myself. I'm now in litigation against my other personalities.

Is it now a class action? 37 personalities against the dodgy bobcat mechanic personality? :hihi:

I would have not paid for the water pump seal or any associated labour and coolant............ at 45000 that sounds distinctly like warranty to me!!!!!

My services are at a set price of $160. However i only pay $100, thats what you get for knowing the service guys, formerly working there, and dropping in a Carton of Crownies at Christmas. I have 1 specific mechanic who looks after my car too, nobody else touches it.

Just recently bought my car Ford Escape 2001 from Byrne Ford.
It had all its services at ford dealers accoring to the book, has 90,000 on it, Byrne did the 90,000 prior to me buying it. Byrne Used cars come with a
175,000 klm warranty providing you get the services done every 10,000 or 6 months for a fixed price of $175
Of course I understand consumable items will cost more, brakes, tyres etc.
But I am pleasently delighted to be getting "Ford" services for that price.

I always HATE looking at the break down of the prices
PARTS $1.45
LABOUR $755.61
ICED COFFEE $2.70
SUNDRY, NON CONSUMABLES, ENVIRONMENTAL WASTE DISPOSAL $40

That last one is serious though and has now got me thinking... how is it my responsibility on what they do with their junk oil/coolant etc.
Charge me to use their rubbish bins..

Because its your oil/coolant/things and stuff they are dumping....I have always wondered though if you could tell them to not dump it and give them containers like old oil bottles saying you want it back.

My last service (1 week ago) was $126 in total, using the good stuff.

Service it myself.

A bloke at work was telling me that his service on his Susuki Liana(sp?)
every 6 months costs him $450. He has to pay it in order for his warranty
to be valid. I read through his contract, and it says that he HAS to get it
serviced there or the warraty is void.

Screw that!

I don't know why people have extended warrentys. Are you expecting you Ford to fail and want to pay a dealer twice as much for every service???

Doesn't make sence.. :
