Default au ute

hey all have been reading this forum for a few weeks now ,,,i must say this is a great forum lots of info here,,i have just picked up my first au ,,it a ute year 2000 supercab,,,, its a great ride and tows my boat verry well,,i havent been in to mod cars for a long time i was more in to old british motorbikes.....well the bug has got me now ,,the ute is stock and i want to dress the old ute up ,,,now i must say that im a old fart 48 years old back in the days when i was a young fellow befor many of you were born we use to lift the *** up and stick the fattest weels and rubber on that will fit im going for that look again,,as you never see that on cars today,, have stacked the leaf springs up 8cm...starting to look good,,my son is like most young people he says lower is the look of the day ,,well i dont give a **** ,,its my drive and ill do what ever i like ,, this is going to take a bit of time to get the finished look im after .am still looking for a fat set of crome wheels ,, will be 20inch on the *** and 16 on the steer...got the day of work today weather is no good for fishing so its pin stripe to go on the ute to day .will try to post some photos later to day with the new pinstipeing .......

Welcome to the Forums Mate .. Good to See your Getting your *** as you call it into the Modding of Cars Again ...

Have you done any other Basic Modifications to the Ute Yet .. Best Be Starting to Grab a Tickford Snorkle , A K&N High-Flow Filter which , will help the young Lady breath a bit better

Im sure the 20's Will make it look good , but yeah get some Pictures up ..

the only thing you will have to watch out for is if it has traction control. with wheels that different in size, it may detect them as rotating at different speeds, and keep activating it, although this doesn't matter if you turn it off...

hey guys this is why i think this is a great forum, lots of info i need to know,ok started the pinstripeing thismorning looks good to me still some more to go carnt rush in to it got the rest of the week of work so if the weather is still crap no fishing will finish the pin stripe,,now how do i know if the ute has traction control???and how do i disconect it if i have it????????,,,hey im from the old school there were no such beast in my day ,,,.you can teach a old dog new tricks,,,,,thanks guys... :

there's sort of 2 ways to tell, because apparently au's don't all have a t/c button, i'm pretty sure the only other way to check is try and do a burnout and if you get a little light like a wheel spinning come up on the dash it has it, if not, then it hasn't...

also you can't have t/c with factory duel fuel / egas falcons, (apparently t/c causes backfiring issues when it cuts spark) and to have t/c it must have abs

well just went up the road and stuck it right up the ute, its wet hear in sydney and i must say that it SMOKE,S UP real good hahahahahano no light on dash so no c/t ,,will post some photos on the weekend,,,,and ive painted the under side of the back of it with crome paint ,,leaf springs diff ect ect now the back is up that extra 8cm you can see all the under car componets,,and it looks great with the crome finish,,,,you just dont see that anymore ,,im starting to convert my son to what is the old way we did things ,

Lol, sounds good, you have nothing to worry about anymore, apart from the speedo being out when you put those wheels on it

Ford utes never had traction control right up until BF.

I own an AUIII XR8 Ute and I can absolutely positively guarantee you that neither it, nor any other AU ute, has traction control fitted.

Yeah, you know that, as do I. But alot of people who own them blame the traction control for not being able to light it up

yeh i got an au xr6 2 ute and im 120% sure it doesnt have traction control, lol tho if it did im sure i would have spent alot less on tires for the beast
