Default Leaking Heater?

hi guys
I replaced the radiator in the Sundowner (this is my first Escort), flushed the heater gently (was blocked) and now it appears the heater is leaking, damp carpet under the driver's mat ... is this a common thing??

I re-routed the heater inlet straight to the outlet hose so the auto choke (recond carby) will still work properly, and will keep a look out for a heater ...
cheers fjw

hi Matt
i'm on the other side of this big, wide brown country of ours ... Perth! PM me with price including handling/postage if you're willing to sell and post and I can direct deposit. Its a '79 2 litre Sundowner if that makes any difference.

I've bypassed the heater with some extra clamps, two 19mm retic joiners and a spare heater bypass hose off a Holden red motor that I had lying around. I hope the plastic retic joiners hold up with the heat, no leaks so far ...

Did you manage to sort out your reversing light dilemma? I've just put on a recond weber carby, new plugs and points and did the timing (a little too advanced at this stage), and its running like a Swiss watch, sweet as!! I'm still working on the non-working spotties though ...
cheers frank
