Hi Guys, as you know I have an AUXR6.
I bought it knowing that it was pretty much finished and this was going to save me millions that I would have otherwise spent on the EB getting it right. BUT... I have to do something. Any thoughts on what I can do to a car that pretty much has everything? As it stands Ill be happy with the stereo after tonight when I refit my old headunit which I have always been happy with. Ive got good speakers, subs and amps that Ill fit when I get a chance. I wont be putting a screen in there unless I get really keen and fit a carputer setup so I can run the haltech from the drivers seat. This will involve moulding a screen into the double din space eventually like enigma has done. I also thought about a carbon fibre bonnet with the buldge but Im not really sure how it would look. I like the look of the car now with its TS50 skirts, rear bar and spoiler with pursuit front. I dont know if changing the look will do it any favours. Can the pursuit bar accept neater driving lights? Should I take them off? They dont sit the best and I dont use them. Pic below. The engine is finished apart from getting retuned later down the track for more boost. I dont really like the wheels but I dont want to spend $3K replacing them just yet. The other thing on my list is some decent street legal drag rubber but thats not really a mod. So any ideas?

You have way too much time and money on your hands!
That is a very nice car as it is. Just get it all legal and enjoy it. I do know you will have to add some personal mods sooner or later though I guess. |

The car should be legal, rwc and registered in my name by the 20th, thats all taken care of and everything should go smoothly I hope.
I have to do something to distinguish it from how it was before. I just dont know what :(

What about some interior mods ? I can't remember what your interior looks like, but mine as it's a series 1, has the crappy colour dash.
I've considered something like carbon fibre highlights/coating over the main stereo fascia bit and on the driver side strip above the glove box. : *edit* Just realised you have the main fascia bit done.

The centre section is already carbon fibre looking, the interior is black leather with red inserts, chrome handles, chrome shifter surround, matching red and black leather shifter and steering wheel.

This is a shit house pic but the red is usually a deep red and it looks great in person.
The stereo wont be there after tonight and a black single din will be in its place.

You arent keen on an xr50 front bar?
Bulge would look good, and would be of use, I hear the clearance is tight?? How much you want to spend? |

I dont like the XR50 front bars, mainly for the fact that its got a genuine pursuit bar on it now and it cost the previous owner a heap of cash he tells me.
Clearance is what you would expect, nothing is higher than a stocker AU manifold though. Im wondering if the extra heat might be a problem for the aftermarket bonnets?

Yeah, other than the stereo, I think nothing else needs to be done to it.

Have to agree about the stereo, its the only thing that needs doing the rest of the car is spot on.

Um...
- Rear-power windows - Screens in head rests - Fairmont Boot Liner - Black carpet? (Does it have black carpet?) - Foot-well lights? - Sound deadening? - Screens in boot? - Have you got BA Scuff plates? - Fairmont A-Pillars for Tweeter position - White instrument dials or maybe a custom red? - Possibly get your handles (not the ones that open the door, just the supports trimmed in black/red leather) - Upgrade to instrument cluster dimmer? (something small, but it was on the upper models) - Airbag suspension I'm just pulling suggestions outta my **** here... But yeah, i'd look at some different wheels down the track... everyone's got fury's or look-a-likes on these days. I love the Pursuit front, and being genuine, is nicer than the XR50. Not too sure about the bonnet buldge, i s'pose it'd make you go a bit faster, lol. You really have to do a mint job on the sound system (i think) to match the quality of the rest of the car. Don't cut corners or get "ok" speakers.

im 100% with loxx!
Vents are the go..but your going to need something tasteful. Vents are good because they can look awesome and if done right actually help the car keep coolish. The vents are what you need I dont know what else you could do...does it have some nice ford racing gauges somewhere?

Vents wouldnt suit the bonnet In my opinion. It doesnt need them.
LG thats heaps!!! Im thinking more visual stuff though, things that people can see. Ive been through the spend millions on a stereo phase and dont want to do it all again, Im happy with the gear I have, I will do a nice boot install when I put it all in.

Or lower it a bit more. Not much else can be done, its perfect. It's got the bodykit, got the sunroof, big wheels. I guess start saving for new wheels, that's all i can suggest. What i'm thinking of doing is getting another rear door piece, that goes around the handle and putting it in the drivers one, and disconnecting the key lock. My friend has an AU, and his lock got absolutely busted, from punks using tools and chipped and ruined the lock. So if it's not there, they can't do it. Plus it will make it look a little neater. So you would only have remote control access to your car (= more security). And the number of times your remote's battery dies, it wouldn't be that much of a hassle if it actually did. Do you get me? - Personalized Plates? - Number plate protectors, sometimes can look ok - Car-bra for some days... and imo can look daim mean - Xenon White lights

Plates will need to be done! Any suggestions?
I like the lock idea! Airbags wont happen, the ride is really good now and its just legal so it will stay how it is. I dont even scrape on massive speed humps that I couldnt get over in the other car! Hmm, I might just be happy with it for while, which I am. Eventually get new wheels and suss out this whole carputer thing. A touchscreen multimedia setup might be nice to have I think.

Computer in boot, Screen up front, DVD-ROM in glovebox, GPS, Wireless, FM Radio, TV soon to come. Amp powering speakers. I can give you his contact details if you want, but im sure theres also others on here that have done it. What sort of plates were you after? Ones about you, ones about the car, ones about being fast/hot in general?

Hmm,
WPNXR, XRWPN XRWEPN WEPN6 WPN6 Im going to get it all engineered then come back to this thread I think. Should be ready for mods in about 4 weeks Then I can register it in my name and swap the plates! I think Ill be sorting out some racing rubber and wheels to put them on first. Then a retune before we hit heathcote. Might scatter some car PC stuff in there for good measure. The other mods can wait.

Back when I had the AU XR8 I ordered them... and got them, only to be told within 48 hours by mail that they have re-reviewed the decision and have deemed them "offensive". I had to return them to VicRoads. Funny thing is, the female behind the counter did not think they were offensive, and said so herself when I went to VicRoads office to returned them, infact she said they were "cheeky" (with a smile on her face). But even after talking with the male (poof) at head office who made the decision, trying to find out why they are considered "offensive", I got no where and had to return them. Some people need to get a life, or get their head checked if they think a number plate that reads AUGASM is offensive. And the only reason I can guess as to why the bloke at HO who thought they're offensive is maybe it's because he hasn't had one for a while.. :hihi:
