yeh that sounds cheap as but expect to pay about 900-1500 for a computer, and as the box goes it should fit seen as they hav the basic same motors.

A new computer from a Ford dealer is $1000, you should get one from a wrecker a lot cheaper than that. I've had quotes as low as $150 for a common ECU like a WANA (AU1 auto with Smartshield) and between $250 and $350 for something a bit less common like a WTMD (AU1 XR6HP auto with Smartshield). I'd guess a manual ECU would be more again. Try some of the parts finder web sites, autoparts.com.au, findapart, partfinder etc. If you can't get a quote under $500 look into getting the ECU reflashed either by a dealer, good sparky or CAPA flash dealer.

AFAIK an auto ECU can be reflashed as a manual, but I can't be 100% sure.

I've heard this only recently.

I bought a second hand manual computer off Sox. I think it was $150 or thereabouts. it needed to be coded to the BCM but that was part of the conversion cost, but if you can get the conversion done for $1200-1500 you're doing very well.

Just hunt around for a second hand manual computer before you put the car in for the conversion.

All the best with it.

Even for a reco T5Z (which is what I'm assuming it would've been) that's a bit steep! Hell for that money, I'd be looking at a TKO or the like.
