you need to get a parameter reset done so the BEM and ECU will work together most mechanics can do it now with their scantool or ford if you have deep pockets

The ecu is the computer and the BEM is the Body Electrics Module. They work together and are paired.

When fitting the VCT you're going to need the electrical hardware, to run it, as VCT and Non VCT have different BCMs, or is it computers? Not 100% sure. In any case, when you put it all in, the car will need the ecu and bem coded so they can work together.

When I converted my car to manual, I needed to change the ECU, as the auto one was doing some funny stuff. The new one was put in at Ford and matched up to the ecu with Ford's fancy computer gear.

Ford is probably the best place to do this, but some flash tuning shops may be able to do it also. I'm not sure. If it were me, I'd have Ford do it. Can't quote you on the cost though, so ring around and see because different dealers may have different prices for such work.

I hope that info was accurate enough, be sure that it'll be corrected by guys in the know if needed.

Hope that helps. All the best with it.
