Hey guys, ive got a single din unit, all wired up etc
but how do i mount it in the dash? i tried using the original brackets from the stock unit but that failed, what can screw into and how??? could i just liquid nails the bracket that comes with the HU  (not an option really lol)i dont have the bottom pocket yet, so unless i dont need that, im going without a stereo for a few days lol help? lol cheers -Henri

The bottom pocket helps alot, and a spike at the back holds the back end upwards... Aerpro have a single DIN facia kit available nowadays...

thats what i was thinking. butttt i dont have one of those right angle drill bit things lol
and the unit sits damn tight in the surround so wouldnt the screws need to be counter sunk?

Bend in some of the tabs on the new cage. That'll stop it from moving around a little bit. Then put in a pocket and it'll pretty much sit still.

The mounting hole is actually a little wider than the hu bracket so no countersinking req but the bracket does need a little straightening afterwards, lol. You may find it easier to remove the centre fascia (4 screws and pull it out) in order to get in there. |

cheers guys, i just tacked it in a couple of places with some maxi bond something lol ill bend a couple of tabs, and just fill the void with something of adequate size til i can get to ford/autobarn to get the pocket!

Come on Henri, your a mod, you should know where the "search" button is
 :Well here is what I did. 2 piece’s of angle aluminum each side, which are screwed in to the metal dash structure. Then the holes you can see in the rails, I bend tabs from the cradle into them, and it sits right back, with the cradle lip right on the edge. The rails are spaced apart the exact size of the cradle so that it has no movement in it at all  As for the gap in between the lower pocket and the stereo, some more aluminum comes in handy.   And just for your info, this setup was done/installed by me with no right angle drill involved Cheers

there is that whole thing about being too lazy to search :P
set up looks good. pretty darn inventive too. i wish i had mad skills with metal and wood and stuff lol i was going to screw into the dash structure ala ronwest, but the good old maxi bond has come through. its actually glued to the plastic fascia  : but i used just enough so if i ever want to remove it, no worries.
